Tides of War has a no-nonsense policy: we want members to enjoy their gaming experience free from harassment, abuse, and non-gaming distractions.

The important thing is that everyone gets to have fun and enjoy the Tides community. These are the short versions of the standards that apply throughout Tides of War.

Code of Conduct — Short Version

1. Let the other guy enjoy his time here. Defamatory, abusive, threatening, harassing, sexually offensive, or discriminatory language is not acceptable.
2. Keep the language reasonable. Courtesy goes a long way. As the old Guide put it: tip your hat and be polite.
3. Leave real-world fights at the door. Tides exists primarily as a place to enjoy games, history, alternate history, and one another's company — not to import arguments over politics, religion, or divisive real-world events into the community.
4. The same standards apply to images and other media. Do not post material that would violate the standards above.
5. Do not cheat, steal, copy, deceive, or misrepresent yourself. Play fairly, respect other people's work and property, and represent yourself honestly.

• Participation in Tides of War is a privilege rather than a guarantee. Tides may restrict or revoke access when necessary to protect the community, its members, or its systems.
• Access to Tides services is provided without a guarantee that every service will always be available.

We try to keep policies straightforward. Our guiding principle is the proper treatment of our members, including respect for their privacy, their rights, and their ability to enjoy the community.
