The Battle of France, a major campaign in World War II, saw Nazi Germany conquer France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands in just six weeks, starting in May 1940. Despite the Allies having more troops, tanks, and guns, Germany’s innovative Blitzkrieg tactics, including swift armored attacks and air power, overwhelmed their defenses. The evacuation of Dunkirk saw a large number of Allied troops rescued, but France ultimately fell, leading to its occupation and the establishment of the Vichy government.
