Group of alts to rock the world?

#1
I have this idea, that i would like to share with you, and hopefully get on the road.

I was inspired but this group of bloggers that started a guild for alt on an alternate server than the ones that hold their mains. In this guild they would start a main, get it to lvl 10 and then make a group of five people that would get together one night a week. Not for power levelling, but simply for the pleasure of questing together and doing instances in a tightly nit group. And then they all blog about their experiences. If it wasnt because they were on an american server i would join them, and there isnt a european pendant to it, sooo?

Now, I don?t think it is necessary to start an alt on a different server, or even start another guild, but the social aspect of meeting up once a week I think sound brilliant. It doesn?t even have to be for 3-4 hours (god knows we do spent enough time raiding), but a couple of hours a week, should be enough to have fun, and have something to look forward to next week. And no, the blog aspect is not a must either, even though it could be fun to have an ongoing history of how it went.

Now, the guild (Pox Arcanum) I?m talking about have certain rules, that one must abide in order for this to work, and the goes as follow:

--

=The Basics=

- When you join Pox Arcanum, your toon will become part of a team.

- Each team will be composed of 3-5 members.

- By joining a team, you're committing to playing with your team at least once a week. (If the whole team wishes to meet more often, that's great.) We'll do our best to make sure your group has sufficiently overlapping schedules before you start, as it seems that the playtime scheduling is what makes or breaks the teams.

- If your team has not fully formed yet, go ahead and decide what class you'd like to play, add yourself to the spreadsheet, and level up your toon to 10. Our experience so far has been that once a couple people in the group decide what class they want to play, the folks joining later will fill out the remaining roles appropriately. (If you want to try a very specific concept, such as all one class, all one race, etc, it is best to get a commitment from other potential team members before putting time into the toon.)

- As soon as you've reached 10, please stop questing and leveling and wait for the rest of your team to level to 10.

- Once everyone on your team is ready to go... Go! Play and enjoy, and if you have a blog, please post about your adventures. We also set you up with access to the common blog if you'd like to share things there.

=Money=

We made a decision early on to be self-sufficient as a guild. This means that any money that goes toward your Poxer or Pox Arcanum should be made by your Poxer. In other words, no farmer alts, server-transferred sugardaddies, or the like. If you're going to farm, do so with your Poxer. Also, keep in mind that your fellow Poxers are there to help you, so if you find yourself in need of something, don't hesitate to ask. Poxers should never sell items or services to other members of the guild.

=Alts=

As mentioned above, no farmer alts are allowed. If you adore the Anvilmar server and wish to create non-Pox toons on it, that's fine, but please do not transfer any funds or materials (for crafting professions or anything else) from non-Poxers to your Poxer toons. If you feel you need a bank alt, please let Trifendolden know in game and he'll add it to the guild.

If you wish to have more than one leveling toon in the guild, you can petition** to do so, but the new toon must be part of an active team (not leveling individually).

**And by petition, we mean let us know your specific plans for the new toon. Regular guilds allow members to add as many alts as they'd like and do with them whatever they'd like, but we're more focused here. People associated with Pox Arcanum typically only have one actively leveling toon that is part of the guild.

If a new team is forming, and you feel you have time to play regularly with a second group, you can ask to have another alt added to the guild. Such alts will be permitted for folks who have shown to be a reliable member of a stable, existing team. Sometimes teams fall apart due to scheduling circumstances and that can't be helped, but we don't want anyone to be distracted from their primary Poxer team efforts. After all, we're all alt addicts at heart, right? :)

=Loot=

Rolling for loot is simplified quite a bit by the fact that we're not all trying to outfit alts. Also, don't you want your tank to have that really sweet hat that dropped if it will help them tank better?

Most teams go with this set-up (though perhaps with some variation):

Pass (if you don't want to carry it) or Greed for any bind-on-equip (BoE) items.

Need for BoE's that will be an upgrade for you.

Pass and discuss for bind-on-pickup (BoP) items.

The greens that get greeded very often get deposited right into the guild bank after a run, so greed rolling those is mostly to make sure nobody's inventory is overflowing. So far, most teams have one enchanter, too, that can disenchant BoP items that nobody needs. Very likely, that same person will be doing all the enchants for the team, too, so we don't tend to bother with shard rolls.

--

So what im asking is if any of you (four of you actually) would like to join me and my lvl 10 something on a weekly adventure (we could do it lvl 25 instead if anyone have an alt at that lvl, I know I have a druid). I haven?t really decided anything yet. What class, we could even go alliance, if people are so inclined (even though they smell funny and look all strange and too perfect, I mean do they bath every single day?..yuk).

And we need to find a day a week og two where we can spent an hour or two, just goofing around feeling all important as a group. Would be fun doing instances again without the usual lvl million to help you out.

What do you say?

That would be awesome! Im definetly all for one race, class etc. even though that a druid group would be the most versatile group (when they get a little further than lvl 10).

Now for the big decisions... if its all druids then its either night elves or taurens. I love taurens, and it would be fun, but maybe we would restrict some of the people who wont to try something new (more druisme bux?), which brings us to other races.

To be a little honest i am getting a bit tired of doing the horde low lvl quest, and would even look forward to having a crack at the alliance (but not as much as ill veto anything horde). One of the funniest races imo on teh alliance side are dwarf and gnome. The dwarf have tanks, dps, healers even bubble boys, but no clothies (mage or locks that is). Gnomes on the other hand have mages and locks, rogues and warriors.. where is the healing? Humans have covered the basics for a group, but is almost boring to look at.. they are just ... human. But maybe that would be another opportunity - who can say Fox Force Five! (Remember Pulp Fiction?). Five hotties jumping around kicking ass? Might be fun Image.

Well, thats just my two cenmt for now.. gonna think about the other races a little. An undead party (Bone Patrol) wouldnt be completely out of the question.. and.. well give me your thoughts .

Anywhoo, nice to have some volunteers (if thats what you did bux, i know you did lanky). Im looking forward to it.

How about Draenai? They are the race Horde should have had in place of blood elves (in this bear's opinion). They have warriors, pallies, shammies, hunters, mages, priests...just missing locks, rogues and of course bears. Dwarves lack the magical dps classes, but still could be fun.

If staying Horde side, all undead is another viable option, one that quite appeals to me as its the one horde race (belfs aside) I don't have for an alt.

Also, rather than starting from L10 I think starting from L1 would be good. Those initial quests would be a lot less tedious done together.

On a slightly related note I saw two players the other day, L40-something mages with identical features and dressed in exactly the same kit. This would be quite achievable if you made it a "rule" to stick to quested/crafted gear. Could be quite funny to have a band of (say) Dwarf hunters, all clad alike with identical pets - maybe white bears! A group of hunters all opening fire with guns at the same time could also be quite impressive.

a lil army of dwarves for wsg is fun ;) all lvl 10s with pets.... specially if you manage to run on top of eachother with 5 pets surrounding you.

if you guys go for the alliance persuation i'd like to join, I don't have any alliance char over lvl 13... mainly due to lack of support. Would be nice for a change of view/surroundings.

I don't know if you would allow non tribes participants aswell, but this sounds like a great idea! Especially going over to 'the other side' sounds like fun and a nice change of scenery to me and something i definately would like to do.

Dwarves have always been my favorite of the aliance races, but all in all not that much bothered with races to say no to others. As for class i personally would like to try out a tank as i have a dps and a healer class already, so tanking is the last part of the holy trinity that i don't have experience with yet.

Obviously the regular day/time when this should happen on would be important to know aswell, but if you want a tank and i'm allowed then count me in :D

Of course you are allowed in. I just posted it in the feral forum since that is where people keep there alts, when not raiding, so it made kind of sense. Im just really happy to find 4 people Image. But if we go for the alliance (seems like its going that way) then we wont have the comforting surroundings of the guild anyway.

Im really looking forward to this. This is gonna be great (yay). Im mean a group with Lanky, Wigdar, Buxton, Yorga and the Penguin? What can possible go wrong?

It seems there is a winning consensus that Dwarves are pretty need, som my suggestions is that we gor an all out dwarf team.

Now for the other questions:

Are we going for an all out hunter team? Even though it would look awesome, i think in the end it would defeat its own purpose. The idea is to have a group that can cope with anything, e.g. tank, healer, cc, dps. But if you have a winning argument im game. But id we need one of each so to speak, then who is who (wigdar already took dips on the warrior)?

What gender and look? Is it all males, females or mixed group? Are we going or a "clan" look (revenge of the red beards?)? All bald? Any ideas?

When and where? Are we staying on thunderhorn? Would be easiest, but some people may have there character base full, if not what are we waiting for? And time - what days is the best for people? We just need to find one we all can agree on. I can just start by saying that during weekdays it cannot be earlier than 20.00 since that is 16.00 in greenland and i have a job i'd like to keep Image.

Uhh.. we also need some namecalling. We need to find out beforehand what the alts name is so we know we are dealing with the right dwarf.. (they all look the same).

And Yorga, WSG? might be an idea, but predominately i think it would be a quest/instance group, but what the heck, if we a day feel like going pvp why not .

thats all from the penguin.

Uhh.. sorry hun (talking to liz here). Your post got up while i posted myself.

I guess six is one to many (for a party anyway), but dont count your chickens just yet. First of we need to figure out who can when (might have someone skip on account of unavailability), and second of al im so not ready to say no to someone before we even started this thing.

Man, this is gonna be classic Image.
