first, just a breif tale....I just went on a patrol in the "tactical" section...the patrol of Africa. Picked up some contacts, so headed over for a peep. Know what I ran into? At last count, 7 destroyers, and 12 escorts. As you can imagine, alot of time was spent below 150 meters. (i got her down to 205 without any bitching from the crew! I think they are starting to trust me. ) Talk about boats coming in from every angle....Had some help from some "green" subs...but they almost torp'd me as much as the reds did....it was a real mess.
2nd item....
Im a digital submariner....I hardly ever use the surface boats. I tried yesterday, however. I approached some DE's that were protecting a few oilers....heres what i did.
Ahead 2/3rds, lit up closest target, commanded battle stations and ordered to engage, ...guns were ringing out, but i was getting absoulty pounded in return. My boat was hull up within 7 minutes. This happened twice. Is there something im missing? I just get battered out there! makes no sense to be on the surface anyway
