Has anyone succeeded at Patrol 9 ?

I recently went back to play some patrols , I tried this one with all three factions .

Using the german ships seemed to be least effective , as the torpedoes fewer .

Using the LFN seemed most effective , as speed is a little more , or so it seems , than the USN . .

The rear guns do point the ' wrong way ' at first , but that doesn't seem to mattter as you draw closer to engage .

I think my record was 3 sunk .

A fairly good Patrol for some practise , and the odds against , make it challenging . Also good for comparing the three factions' ships. and playing with torpedoes ! Are we able to succeed ?

I'll keep trying anyway .

Been a loooong time since I tried it. I'll add it to the list to try (after the campaign missions I want to re-test for the patch...8 down, 58 to go)

What's the actual name of the mission - is it "Hammer & Anvil III"?

Yes that's it . Finally , by avoiding the four groups of attacking ships initially , and heading Northeasterly , directing all convoy in same direction , and sending subs towards the northern enemy , I did it ! The subs seem to play a vital role here , between the convoy and enemy . So far only won with LFN . There is a different formation of ships with each faction .

I just have to resurect this one

I found if you order all of your destroyers to wait about a third of the way between the transports and the enemy. Once they reach that point you send them north, which crosses the enemy's T. by doing this I normally win with only 2 or 3 ships lost.

Just reading here, it looks a little confusing.

There is a difference between replaying the campaign missions (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10a,10b) and then replaying the "patrols" - where I presume you mean the "combat patrols" ∨ "tactical patrols" ∨ "training patrols"

The "combat patrols" seem to be a duplicate of the campaign missions, but allow you to skip around and play them in any order. Which is similar to actually completing all the campaign missions, and then clicking on the little blue numbers at the bottom of any campaign mission screen to skip to any mission you like.

So when you ask if the patrol is winnable, do you mean one of the training, combat, tactical patrols?

Back in January ,pre patches , the "Patrol Missions " then were later in the patched version known as " Tactical Missions" . This with extra options of choosing one's vessel , or even a sub as well as which enemy )

It was a Hammer & Anvil , ( Yes number III I think )protecting a convoy , and four groups headed to attack it .

I did win this a few times later, but with the patches , the facility of drawing around a group with the mouse , ( to order - given that you have the rank ) makes this almost too easy !

I think I drew all surface ships off to the north west on that one, heading past the isolated three enemy destroyers. The subs were sent north against the other destroyers. This allowed all guns to bear on the starboard side and I also pumped them full of ship fired torps for good measure. It is usually a narrow win for me with lots of damage, but the amount of action going on is great to watch and makes it one of my most fun missions to play.

The original H&A3 mission from the Gigex mission were among the most diffecult missions that TAG ever made.

You are supposed to be a DD in that mission, preferly a KLM and I can not recomend using other vessel type for this :)
