Can I Use Anything Bigger Than A Dd?

Looks like a DD is the largest ship available. Is anything bigger in the works or available.

I just brought the game and installed it. Looks awesome but I was hoping eventually to command the Graf Spee or some such.

Also where did the original GMX media forums go to??

Are their any patches for the Australian version?? I played my first mission and had my first CTD. This did not happen with the demo.

Hi and Welcome.

There will be bigger ships in MP and in Chapter 2.

GMX forums went 'buh bye', no one knows the official reason, but rumors says they were hacked.

There is no patch for the Aussie version, as it is allready up to date. [Moderator: There is now a patch, see here for details]

Im sure your CTD was not related to a bug in the game, but more likely bad luck / coincidence / overload of cpu or just a windows general failure :((

Do you have latest driver versions for all your hardware?

What OS do you run?

Do you run any processes in the background? mirc/msn/antivirus etc?

Thanks Jesper buxton: ,

Because I was running things in the background this is entirely possible. I have not had a CTD since that the first time I loaded the game.

As for specs, I am running XP with the latest SP and patching. Also have latest 9700pro drivers. THe Graphics are sweeeeeeeeeeeet in this game!!

I look forward to the first Carrier patch.

Tell me, how much will online play be per month?? I really hope a LAN option becomes available.

benefit, errrm you mean profit? ;)

Its fun single player anyways, but a great shame about multiplayer. Its not like you will lose anybody who plays at LANs from online multiplayer. Just look at BF1942

I often play with 12+ people at LANs once a month.............. also sorry to hear that the current retail game will not be improved on as this was part of the reason I bought it. Was under the impression that once multiplayer came out it would be in a free patch and ships etc would continue to be added to enrich the online experience and the spin off benefit to this would be in that sngle player gamers could also use these ships. I only have a 56k con so may not be able to benefit from the online experience yet.

I also play IL2 Sturmovik and think this is an example of how online multiplayer should be done. They added free planes and garnered a huge community via their great support once the game was released.

Anyways enough whinging, guess I should have waited till the game matured in the next release as it seems the game has stagnated just as I purchased it. Thats not to say I am not happy with the current release, I like the game a lot.

The concept for this game from the beginning was for massive multiplayer. Every ship in the war being a different player. Enigma was always meant to be something a little different than everything else out there. I think when it goes multiplayer you will see the real gem behind Enigma! I have 56k but I'm not worried about being able to play.

Destraux,

Welcome aboart and yes, we will continue to upgrade the singleplayer game, as well as release add-ons, etc. The multiplayer will be a free download patch for the singleplayer game, or a separate game if you don't own singleplayer.

We are designing it to work with high latency connections so you should be able to play it. We also don't do lan because the amount of expense to do it makes it impossible for us to afford.

If Enigma was BF1942 then yes, we would have lan. We are in a smaller segment and I don't expect we will sell 500k units.

Different size means different strategy.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Guess I am just a little short of understanding how LAN would be much different code to Online play.

Only thing that would make sense is if you were not releasing server side code which would stay on your company online servers only.

BTW - I went to an EB store here in Sydney Australia and they told me it was sold out. Maybe you will sell more copies than you think, fingers crossed eh.

I'm guessing it's not related to latency but rather wether the model is peer to peer or server-client(s).

Just a guess.

(For ex: If anyone remembers SFC and SFCII with its dynaverse - you basically had to have a server running to multiplay. The advantage being the server handles all the chores of the persistant universe.)
