I love the ideas behind this game but I have a few questions?
I don't have any technical issues as of yet! but...I'm a 56ker(not by choice no other option in my area)(other than 100$ a month satilite)
Am I going to be able to play this on a 56k connection! Be honest, The T1 guy running around me killing me every sec sucks. Has it been tested with the 56k modems? It looks to me like it may be better than most over the net because of the lack of terrian. ie: not trees and mountains and so on.
I guess I don't understand the single player vs the multiplayer...
I buy the single play game... I get access to the multi play...and the multi play game grows with new ships and stuff with a monthly fee, but the single is just what I bought?? a couple of ships and a sub or two? or does the bi-monthly upgrades upgrade the single play too... so I can practice?? and play the computer on those slow 56k days...someone please elaborate on the differences...
I'm ready to buy but...
The developers are aiming for a 56k'er froendly game. (The multiplayer version that is)
If it will it will work is yet unknown, as the game is far from done, (ETA x-mas 2003).
The deal on the single vs multi player is simply as this:
1: you buy the single player to play for your self. the benefits of that is that can practice your skills and that you get 30 days FREE online.
2: The online client is gonna be freeware, and it will cost X USD/mo to play (the exact price is not yet announced). but the best guess so far among the players is 10-12USD/mo.
You can buy the single plaeyer and never play online if you dont want to.
you can get the multiplayer when it ready and join online, without owning the single player.
it is 2 different things.
Both games will be updated with new missions, ships and what else that may come along the way.
Did I push you the last step to buy it ?
maybe...
can you understand my hesitation?
If the game dosen't play well with my 56k connection than multi play is worthless to me ( because no LAN play) but the single play has some merit IF I get more for my money... like a finished program would give...I like the concept of growing with the users, it just seems like they will leave out some of the features so it can be implimented later, and I would hate to see the game become developed and I miss out.
I guess I'll wait and see...I'm very tired of buying under developed games that end up on my shelf 1 or 2 days after purchase and never get used again!!! I NEED to be more selective and demanding. These devlopers should have a trade in program... I give you 5 games you give me 1... At least then I may get my moneys worth.
This game has potential for me but...I'll keep my eye on it.
Thank you for your time and info
Hi Sarge,
Welcome aboard. Those are valid questions and I agree with Jespers response. We are targeting 56k as the connection speed and because of the way we are designing the game, 56k vs T1 should offer no significant advantage. It isn't an FPS.
As of the singleplayer game - we will be upgrading it also. There will be a free add-on sometime around the end of June and an entire new single-player chapter this Christmas.
The subscription for multiplayer is such that if it doesn't satisfy you, you've got a month to find out before you pay anything.

Thanks for your replys Jesper and East
Well that answers my questions...
I do like the fact that you guys plan to upgrade both aspects of the game.
The demo runs great on my machine so... I guess I don't have anymore excuses huh...
SGT. youre right no more excuses, go buy it
