Well it fires mortars at a range of 300-400 meters, and then go straight down in the water, and if it hits the sub you were aiming, well there will be a spash a bit like when DCs explode. Just fire them when the Sub is ahead of you, and is at the 3rd outer circle when in 500m on the B-TAC. Remember that it isn't a very powerweapon and need multiple impacts to kill, but very good to soften targets befor the DC drop.

And now Good Hunting!! enigma!:

P.S. There's a topic about that in tips and tactics, if you good at maths check the "how to use torpedo".

P.S.2 For those who think I should of have answer go in tips and tactic, well I was in a good mood... Image

If you are having trouble with the range try the first corvette training mission and try to sink the merchants with the hogs, that should give you a rough idea about what the range is.

Another question though for the experts though, what is the hog sink rate in comparison to depth charges? Basically I'm asking, do I have to lead a sub the same I would with charges, less then DC's, or more?

7.2 inch Projector Mk 10 - Hedgehog

//1 Mount with 144 rounds (250 rounds on May 28, 1944 from USS Spangler)

Standard ahead throwing anti-submarine weapon. Small missiles launched in pairs about 1/10th second apart. The average range was about 200 yards and the charges fell in an elliptical pattern about 140 feet X 120 feet.//

//An anti-submarine weapon, the hedgehog was deployed on most Fletcher-class destroyers after World War II to supplement the depth charge. The 24 small bombs were launched from spiked fittings, hence the name "hedgehog". The bombs exploded on contact and achieved a higher sinking rate against submarines than depth charges did.//

//It is not known of any submarine surviving a hedgehog hit.// //30 lbs of TNT or 35lbs of Torpex//

I once managed to sink a sub with a Hedgehog (that's right just one) !!!:, of course this was after my Flower escort had dropped his load of DC's (probably 40), I had made two full passes,(I managed to get the other two subs with one volley each) and the sub had surfaced (my escort caught the standard surfacing volley) and I had hit it with a couple of four inchers and plenty of AA fire. Finally I managed to get in a lucky hit with the hogs and finally killed it. Image
