Rise Of Flight Joystick Issues

#1
Hello everybody

Just bought the game last Saturday. After installing and watching the intro with the spectacular graphics, I now have a major problem: the game behaves as if there were no joystick connected to my pc! I do play other flight sims with my Saytek Cyborg joystick and it works flawlessly. In Rise of Flight, I can't even calibrate the joystick because the game does not detect its presence. Has anyone had similar issues? And most important, is there a solution? I already uninstalled and reinstalled once, with no change.

Rise of Flight has come a long way on it's 'ease of configuring', but it still can be a pain at first. It uses which physical USB port you are connected to determine what is Joystick 1, 2, 3, etc. Any other device (throttle, pedals, etc) count as a joystick. So chances are it is just using another device what you want to be assigned as Joystick 1.

Two options, you can:

1) Fiddle with plugging in your joystick in a different port so it gets picked up as Joystick 1.

2) Go into Service in the game and reassign all axes and keys. (Your main Joystick is probably being picked up as Joystick 2 or 3 currently.)

Option 1 is easier when starting out, since there may be many mappings you may keep on the default Joystick setup. Just that every Joystick is different so it will still probably need tweaking. Go into "Service" to find out what is getting assigned to which Joystick. It should help you sort it out faster.

All your mappings get saved into C:\...\Rise of Flight\data\input\WHATEVER.map files. You can save them as different names within the game. While starting out save them often as different names while experimenting.
