Subject: Embarking on a new course.
On November 9th, 2008, we embarked on a new journey as squad mates, peers, and friends. Some pilots here have flown together in other squads, some have barely met. That will come in due time.
As many of you know, I have been around a few squads, and have led a few. This is not the first time MCVG-2 has shipped out to sea. But I plan on keeping us out for a long time. This is now our home, so treat her with respect. T-bar, Gosling, and K-9 were gracious enough to keep her polished up while she lay dormant. Once again she will, unleash wrath upon the Japanese.
I want to outline the direction for our squad. First and foremost, we are here to fly and have fun. This is a game, and we have real lives that at times are serious enough. So this is our time cut loose. However, that doesn?t give us the right to disrespect the members who fly with us. Fights will happen, but we will take care of them with those involved. Our missions will revolve around an Okinawa campaign, as well as a continuation of the slot campaign that we have been flying. We will have training nights that will bring us all up to speed.
Now for a introduction to the Staff.
Serving as XO is Major Rino. Rino is well versed on wingman tactics, training, and general airmanship. He is one of many real life veterans in the squad, and he is a great guy to listen to in the air. S~ To Rino, Oooh Raah!
Serving as the Squad Flight Leader for VMF-512 is Captain Rudi. Rudi comes to use from flying on the other side of the pond, and is a Veteran as well. He is a great stick, and you newer recruits will do well to learn from this gentleman. His background in the U.S. Navy will be a great help in naval doctrine. S~ to Rudi, Oooh Raah!
Serving as the Squad Flight Leader for VMBT-143 is Captain Ranger. Ranger is being tasked with heading up the first pure TBM-3 squadron in IL2. His task is great, but as a former Ranger, I have no doubt that we will help him prevail. S~ Ranger, Oooh Raah!
As we embark on the journey together, I want to remind you that this is our home, not just mine. Your input is welcomed, and asked for. Our squad has the potential for to be something great. Together, we can achieve whatever goals we have for each other. Lets have a blast, take to the skies, and absolutely dominate the skies.

Welcome aboard everyone ! Our deployment into the Pacific Theatre of Operations (PTO) for IL2 will be very exciting for us all. I'm looking forward to flying with everyone in the squad in the coming days and weeks.
But on another note..
Having served in the Corps back in the mid 1980's, November 10th is the Birthday for the United States Marine Corps (USMC). The Corps is 233 years old Today.

No. 47 (Series 1921) Washington, November 1, 1921
759. The following will be read to the command on the 10th of November, 1921, and hereafter on the 10th of November of every year. Should the order not be received by the 10th of November, 1921, it will be read upon receipt.
(1) On November 10, 1775, a Corps of Marines was created by a resolution of Continental Congress. Since that date many thousand men have borne the name "Marine". In memory of them it is fitting that we who are Marines should commemorate the birthday of our corps by calling to mind the glories of its long and illustrious history.
(2) The record of our corps is one which will bear comparison with that of the most famous military organizations in the world's history. During 90 of the 146 years of its existence the Marine Corps has been in action against the Nation's foes. From the Battle of Trenton to the Argonne, Marines have won foremost honors in war, and is the long eras of tranquility at home, generation after generation of Marines have grown gray in war in both hemispheres and in every corner of the seven seas, that our country and its citizens might enjoy peace and security.
(3) In every battle and skirmish since the birth of our corps, Marines have acquitted themselves with the greatest distinction, winning new honors on each occasion until the term "Marine" has come to signify all that is highest in military efficiency and soldierly virtue.
(4) This high name of distinction and soldierly repute we who are Marines today have received from those who preceded us in the corps. With it we have also received from them the eternal spirit which has animated our corps from generation to generation and has been the distinguishing mark of the Marines in every age. So long as that spirit continues to flourish Marines will be found equal to every emergency in the future as they have been in the past, and the men of our Nation will regard us as worthy successors to the long line of illustrious men who have served as "Soldiers of the Sea" since the founding of the Corps.
