About Todays match with Thorn

The LMS match we had earlier today should of been an easy win for the BSS. I'm ashamed to say that we still have a long way to go when I thought that we were on the verge of a breakthrough. I thought that having problems on the runway was just a one game thing, but I was wrong. We still have people who can't even take off with out colliding. This is unforgivable.

Another thing is that we need to stick to our game plan. Regardless of what out enemy does. This was my fault for not sticking to it. We had the right planes when everyone was in 109K4s. If we keep climbing we will be high above our enemy who will having to come up after us. When we get to the corner they have only 2 choices and both are bad. 1. They come up at us and we rope them or 2. they have to turn around which exposes there 6 to us because of the map limit.

I do agree with Burton about coming up with 4 game plans and we can adjust to the action at hand.

Team Speak: Everyone needs to have a properly functioning team speak. Feed back is unacceptable and it cause problems with communications, probably why Jonny thought that I said to go right at the other team 3 times when I actually only ordered it once. In the third round was the first time and only time I ordered a head on attack which very nearly worked. The other time the LA's where to go out with the 109's and stay in close formation only slightly lower. The LA's would attack first and the 109s would cover from above, but since so many people where talking and giving contradicting orders I just let it go and and quit talking. No sense in having the CO speak when everyone else is giving orders.

I think that from now on what we will do is, I'll call roll call get us on the runway and get us ready to fly from there Burton will take over on the game plans and call the game.

Flying with a wingman is the absolutely best way to fly regardless of what anyone says, dynamically or otherwise. The problem is no one is hooking up with anyone else and flying with them. If we'd fly in pairs and stick together we would be a lot better group of pilots. If you or your wingman gets killed , it your fault, but you just hook up with another buddy that is still up and nearby. This is especially true in this game, because you only get one chance per round. That's the closest you'll come to a real life experience. Until we all get together and start flying together on a regular basis we will all remain single pilots not watching out for anyone.

Get your Team Speaks FIXED, Get you Game Controller FIXED and we'll move on the the next game.

For US team member we'll have a practice on Wednesday night at 9:00 PM EST.

UK Based Pilots will practice on Saturday Mornings according to the schedule that Burton sets up for you.

EVERYONE WILL HAVE PRACTICE ON SUNDAY 1 1/2 HOUR BEFORE GAME TIME. THIS COMING WEEK PRACTICE WILL START AT 12:00 PM SHARP. IF YOU ARE NOT AT PRACTICE, YOU WILL NOT KNOW THE GAME PLAN AND YOU WILL NOT FLY.

If we have 5 people show up for a practice, and 11 show up for the game we will only fly 5 pilots. The 5 who showed up. The rest will sit and watch from the US base. If you leave while we are in the game you won't fly the next week either.

I think I'm done for now. For those of you who can't tell, yes I'm still pi$$ed off and today is going to take me a long time to get over. Deal with it!

Ok Boss......you are right.

I would like to add some observations:

In the 1st round they flew to the US base.....so we had more time to climb.......so we killed all of them.

In the 7 rounds after they changed tactic and flew straight to us.......we didn't climb too much and everybody, specially the pilots at the back got nervous and we all engaged, except 1 or 2 of us.

If u all see the film watching the map you will see that they came to us but always had 2 or 3 pilots in the back as a reserve.

Dunno what really happend?

I had a bad lag at moments. Anyone got it too or was my IP?

I'm sry Boss, I feel that we disapointed u.....but I don't have a certain explanation about what happend to the whole team.

This is NOT doom and gloom.

Yes.. we should have won more 'rounds' but to say we should have won the match is stretching it .. IMHO.

I saw an awesome group of pilots .. super potential. I'm not as down or disappointed as Joker is.. but there are some basics we need to get ironed out. No chit .. you guys KNOW how to fly :)

We are 'very' close to that point where NO ONE will think they will have an ez win on us. The fact we 'dominated' on the first round showed without a doubt that this team can do it .. and do it well. We are each good pilots .. we just need to work on the team work a little bit more. We need to understand that when we toss in new pilots to the game .. the plan .. has to be watched like a hawk.

CO and XO's had a private meeting after the team meeting.. We identified some weakness's, and we have worked out some problems and addressed the situation.

I think we were all pi$$ed off with yesterday's game.

But I agree with TBar, this was a growing pain. The squad AND the leadership are growing. Sure we do need to work on winging and getting the take off right, this operational stuff will come and can be practiced anytime two BSS are in Teams together. We also need to develop game plans and develop these to the point where we have confidence in our plans and our ability to stick to an in flight plan that is very likely to change in real time.

BUT - Gentlemen .... Lets keep this in context. Were pi$$ed at losing 7-1 in a match we know we could have done much better in, quite possibly even won. Jees .... take a moment .... think about that. Were pi$$ed we didn't WIN !! Doesn't that reflect how far we have come! How much improved BSS are. Were no longer dissapointed that we lost again, were pi$$ed that we didn't WIN !! And the feeling is justified because we are in these matches now, we are contenders, we expect to do well and yes we should have done much better.

Were all learning, to lead, to develop strategies for various game formats, and to fly together and follow these strategies.

We will learn the lesson from yesterday, and work out how to move forward.

Stick with it BSS.

Now let's take a look at it from my stand point and maybe you'll why I'm still PO'd about this match. Last week you guys went out and took on a team called the German Eagles and you beat them. Image GE is twice the team that Thorn is.

Last week BBC took Thorn apart 6-2! BBC is a squad with hardly any experience. Image All of their pilots except for Popgun have been flying this game for less time than most of us. Image Am I to believe that they have made so much better progress than we have in as little as 2 months?? Image

Yesterday we took on Thorn and won only 1 round. I just can't see how this could of happened to us. Image Yes we had tremendous first round, and every round after that should of been good rounds for us too. I expected to win at least 6 rounds. Image

Next week we are taking on another squad that is not much better than Thorn. Image Evil is our next opponent. Guess who took Evil apart yesterday! BBC.

Now you know the rest of the story. Image

If anyone dare says that BBC is as good as us, I'll quit this game and go find something a little easier... Maybe Ms. Pacman. Image

JoKeR

I just checked the standings I guess maybe I was wrong, BBC is a lot better than us. They are in a 3 way tie for second place. The other 2 teams in 2nd place? Thorn and GE. all have 16 points. 2 points behind the 1st place team TKFM with 18 points. I guess on a positive note, we are not in last place. We have 3 teams behind us and we ae tied with USHA who has less games played than us. Evil is 2 points behind us. GUT CHECK!!!

Ok, here is my observations and thoughts since i couldn't speak them on TS yesterday as i had echo and stuff with my voice, i will write it down here better, in points:

1. One of the major confusions that happened when we had too many pilots crashed on runway that happened when we needed one more pilot to add so we get equal and popgun give the scramble order and we asked him to wait, some piltos already moved on the runway and some others stopped as soon they saw joker's "wait 1", then popgun said "too late", the ones who already moved on runway some took off and some crashed on others whom were standing on the middle of runway. thats basically what i believe why the crash happens.

2. i'm sure we all are very very good pilots on 1v1, But i don't know when we see too many of them coming toward us we get "distracted" alot.

to fix this, i have a few thoughts:

Whatever the plan is, and whomever your wingman is, as soon we are getting visuals and ready to engage, each pilot should decalre on team speak "i'm on X enemy pilot" and stick with that one till he make the kill.

If we are 7 against 7 pilots for example, and each one go after only 1 from the other side, we will have no "GAPS" in between among us that let the other suqad pilots take advantage of and make easy kills.

What usually happens is the opposite, we only declare less useful info like "i'm down..", "i got visual on A, B, C pilots"..etc.

Why not decalre whom each one of us is against SO the other BSS pilots leave that one and go for someone else?

and if we made the kill on the assigned pilot we are free to cover any of our fellow pilots.

what currently happens, is that we RANDOMLY pick any one from the enemy pilots as soon we got visuals and go after and ALL OF A SUDDEN someone shooting at us from the back and we go down.

and i'm sure on the current scenario 2 or 3 BSS piltos go hunting for the same pilot from the opposite squad. that give a very good chance for other opposite squad pilots to have FREE pilots (under no pressure from us) who will manage to get on our six.

that flaw is the exact same thing that used to happen back when we were flying 2 squad match format few months ago before we fly LTS format.

3. We need to practice twice each week at least for all of our pilots US or GB based time zones just whoever can attend, "Teams arena Format" with at least 3 or 4 show up i hope and practice just that i mentioned in point #2.

4. BCC is no way better than us maybe in current MML stats but they are far near from our BSS pilot skills.

5. we had one or two new pilots that flyed with us this last match and i feel they don't really the rules, for example one of them were sitting on US base and took off as soon he hear the scramble command and popgun kept asking him to crash.

But, the most important point is #2:

Whatever the plan as soon we get visuals Each BSS Pilot MUST DECLARE ON TEAM SPEAK WHICh ENEMY PILOTS HE WILL BE ASSIGNED TO

or better yet we can just have Joker, Tbar or Burton make the calls for that and order each one like "c0ldfire go for ivan", "tango you are on Happy" "don't let him go out of ur sight till u get him down"..etc for example.

and again, other BSS pilots need to leave that enemy pilot alone.

this way we will greatly minimize the confusion and distraction happens.

Please don't ignore this and take it in consideration, i'm sure it will work as perfect as it should and it will bring us too many future wins than we can handle! trust me, cuz it's very related to situation awarness too.

I was going to draw a diagram or something for it but i had no time sorry.

We just need to change our Team Speak Calling Strategy and no one talk nonsense or random so we stay focused.

Good observations by Burton and Coldfire.

Coldfire, Calling or assigning targets will be difficult. This won't be possible until we are up in flying. We'd have to break the squad up in to 2 or 3 flight wings.

The leader of each of the wings would be out front and would probably have the visual of the other team. He would be responsible for calling out who's on who. In order for that to work the flight leader would have to know the position of each pilot in his wing to make sure the right pilot is in position to intercept his target. I'm not sure if we are at that level yet.

Another thing that I was perplexed about is that in almost every instance, we started up above our enemy. When I went to the LA7 I was below and was able to make some good kills on the Thorn plane going up after ours.

Maybe that is the plan we should try. Have a lower flight and and high flight. Which ever way the enemy attacks the other flight will attack. If the enemy attacks high, our low flight engages and high flight becomes bait. If the enemy attacks low our high flight engages and low flight become the bait. If this happen it must be quick and decisive. Our attacking plane must make the kill fast.

We also need a good combination of plane. LA are ok but they just don't have the climbing ability of the K4's The difference is those 3 cannons. I did a lot better in the LA than the K4 yesterday. An LA on take off will keep up with the K4's if the K4's don't climb too steep. Maybe start off on a normal climb a on the final climb the K4s go vertical, up and over and the LA's make a tight turn towards enemy. The K4s would have about a 3 to 5K alt above our LA's

LA could climb slightly to bring it a little closer but then they need to back off the WEP because it burns out early in the LA7. A K4 should be able to fly an entire round with WEP on if what I read is true in our flight manuals which states 10 minutes of WEP for a K4.

At this point I really just don't know what will work for us until we get together and fly as a team.

I always in friendlies or league matches say I'm on X pilot........and if I hear another m8 on the same plane i'm focusing......I leave it.

About assigning targets that's not possible cause the leader or the C/O or X/O can't look at all enemies and m8s.....or he will be the 1 st kill trying to assign.

About 2 or 3 wings.......we should use different TS channels to avoid confusions.......but we lost the main command......only if we use written order pressing 8

About LA7 strategy I think it could work....as we tried with spits in trainings and against BBC friendly.......we swept them....do u remember that? How can they beat teams that won us????? I can't believe it yet

yes i meant not assigning targets on ground, i meant when we are up flying already and getting visuals only and almost ready to engage, the winging idea is good but i'm afraid it will get much complicated and we get distracted, we should test this theory too, but what i meant by assigning targets individually without separate wings i think is easier and could work. anyway we should try both ideas soon.

Sounds like a good plan idea too Joker, we need to distract them as much as we can. lets try it too in team practice room soon.

Joker, about tango's idea of separate TS channels for each wing within the match game is it possible that you broadcast to 2 or 3 channels same time on TS? so that u give Global commands and still each wing can't hear eachother to avoid distraction.
