Update fails with "Bad Install"

Hi,

first of all excuse my poor English, I'm a german gamer

I've got E:RT with an DVD in a german gaming magazine, installed it and then tried to update it with the "Enigma: Rising Tide 2.08 to Gold Edition (german)" patch.

First I got an empty message box with an OK button, in the patcher was a small message "serious errors".

On the second try I got "bad install".

Reading the post here I've uninstalled E:RT and re-installed it.

Looking in license.dat I read 2.0.8, in the DOS box I got v2.5-201.

Again I tried to update it - same errors as the first time.

When I tried to start the game without the media in my DVD drive I got NO remark about not having the installation media not in the drive - it started!

But unpatched - without the GOLD enhancements!

What can I do short of banning E:RT forever from my computer?

Yours

I think you may already have the gold version, so you do not need to patch it.

In some of the patches the developers forgot to updat ethe version number.

If i remember correctly, only the gold version was translated to German, I think you can verify it in the readme file in the installation folder.

If there are any text files referring to GMX media or there is a GMX logo when you start the game, then it is not the gold edition

Also the Retail version of E:RT does not have CD/Copy protection, only the Gold Edition has that. :)
