If you want to convert the site to a content management system such as joomla .. that is up to you. I have no objection.

You can do anything you like. ... however .. the BoD has to authorize any final decision. I for one would not want to build the site and do all the work to find out later the BoD does not authorize such a move. I feel we have a honeymoon at this time and can probably do anything we like. Insomuch as we have nothing but an improvement for the entire site in mind. . and I'm sure they will love it .. then i say we can do anything we want to. You do understand that does not mean destroy the site or turn it into a pron haven.. lol

I will take a 'precautionary' move and make a post in the BoD Forums and inform the group of our intentions. This way if there is any concern it will surface right off .. and if not .. then we have license to move forward.

I am technically in charge until you are confirmed .. so I'll make the move and be the bad guy .. again however I don't think there will be a problem so I authorize you to move forward if you do firmly feel a content management system is the way to go.

As we discussed.. here are a couple of things we must comply with.

>> Site must be Wc3 compliant (no problem)

>> Site must be in the USAAC Blue. It must have a very similar look, feel and functionality.

>> Site must be user friendly.

>> Site must be easy for the non-technical's assigned to be able to do day to day basic updates and funtions

>> Forums and other plug in type systems. Must be easy to install and incorporate.

I would suggest that we use the same forums we are using now, otherwise it would be like starting over and we would get a lot of complaints. Lets try to avoid importing our current forums into some other forum engine. Lets try and stay with the same board manufacture .. I advise staying with the Current forums in total. If at some time AFTER the site is built and working.

One thing the TowNet Group will NOT allow is a PhpNuke type of system because of the security risks. If you were to decide on a PhpNuke site.. you would have to move the site off the TowNet servers and find other hosting.

Ok.. all this we have already discussed... so this is just a paper trail. Continue discussion if you like.

We will go with what we discussed as this is the best for all concerned. What I will do firstly is do a mockup of what the site might look like and step you through its workings. I wont go crazy and do the full reproduction in case they dont like the outcome. No use spenidng hours working on something they just dismiss outright.

I have installed Joomla on one of my domains and will find a template that I can customize to look similar to what is already there.

I agree with the forums too...best to leave them the way they are.

The new test site .. I check every day. Looks like you about stopped on it..

Is it time to give me backend admin access so I can start putting more in .. or is this as far as you want to take this demo site too?

The only thing I see from just 'viewing' is that I would like to see the 'teal' more into the color of our main site .. colors are something you said are no big deal .. so its really not worth discussing at this point? I have a feeling that the background image may be affecting the color? Anyway.. not important at this time.
