LTS - NO Rolling starts.

LTS NO Rolling starts.

This means you cannot 'anticipate' the scramble order and start rolling for a fast take off.

This 'rolling start' is no longer legal.. in any sense of the word :)

====================================

This 'rolling start' is my fault because I interpreted something incorrectly from years of bad habit in FFA..

I've allowed a rolling start in the Fun Event LTS so long as your 'wheel' were still on the deck untill the scramble order. I saw this as the same as when you are in FFA and your wheel touch down .. you could not be shot at. This 'roolling start' is apparantly wrong by current AA pilot and Co/Xo opinions. The majority rules .. so this practice can no longer be observed .. i.e a rolling start. You must be at full stop at scramble before you can release the break and go go go..

Yes, you can still line up on the runway .. but you can't release the breaks until the scramble order comes. NO ROLLING STARTS.

Hello M8s,

I would say that I agree that the rolling start is not a good practice. IMO the only way to stop it would be to only allow starting from spawned position. I know that people think that there will be more crashes on take off but I dont agree. If take off was conducted as it should be left to right there should not be any collisions. Image

In the future LTS league take offs will be from the spawned positions only.

Take Care M8s,

Well when I was growing up my mommy told me to look left, look right, then look left again before crossing the street. I believe that this would work from a spawning position!

Sometimes things are so simple when you think about it.

How to Scramble from the Spawn Position, by Temper Image

The last plane to spawn (farthest to the left) is #1, the next plane to the right of him is #2, the next plane is #1, next is #2, and so on down the line. Use an external view to find out if you are #1 or #2.

Everyone is at full throttle, full aft stick, and full left rudder.

At the scramble command, everyone releases brakes immediately.

All #1 planes turn hard left and roll down the left side of the runway.

All #2 planes relax rudder a little and roll down the right side of the runway.

That's all there is to it. If everyone is on the ball, this is the fastest way to get everyone in the air and there should be no collisions.

PS. If someone is flying a Hurricane, everyone will collide and the other squad will crash from laughing so hard. Image

The topic is LTS Fun Event - No rolling starts.

As a fun event .. line up on the runway has resutled in many less collisions on Take off. This makes the Event Manager have to do less work to monitor the 30 second rule. Furthermore, Fun Events, we need to cut a lot of slack and give the 'rookies' some space on take off .. as they do forget to lQQk ::left::right::right:: .. some times :)

LTS as a League. Skydancer has the right idea. "Scramble from spawn postion only." Then there is no question about anything.

Now, for any situation where rules are written and there is some type of training given. Temper Guide to Scramble needs to be a topic unto itself .. required reading for all Cdts .. and well.. some 'vetran' pilots as well :) It would be nice to see the wording "Scramble from Spawn Position Only" in all League events. Not sure what FFA has anything to do with this lol......
I'm not sure what your comment means .. or where you ever got FFA..

This topic closed. Fun Event Manger .... and League Manager make the rulings concerning the TOPIC of Rolling Starts in LTS Fun Event.
