There is a topic in the genral discussion forums titled "The Poison Within".

I see there is some hint of finger pointing at members of a squad. It is really NOT about squads .. and we should not be affected by those that keep pointing that way. What the real issue is .. is the bad behavior of individuals.. it really does not matter what squad they are in.

Squad CO's .. will handle the behavior of there members. True .. if a CO does not care, nothing will will be done within that squad to circumvent what is happening. IF the CO does care.. then influence can be put forth .. and if warranted the CO may decide this is NOT the type of pilot we want on our squad .. representing the rest of us .. regardless of how 'good' he is in the air.

They way I see it .. sysops are cops and can't do anything unless a 'law' is being broken. They can speak up and put forth some pressure .. but really can't do anything about 'harrassment' etc .. if they can .. they we have a failure of sysops doing what they should be doing. One thing is for sure .. sysops should fly that sysops tag a lot more often and do the job. Its not always about 'films'.

Communities .. can address bad behavior. A review type of process might be needed so parties have an opportunity to defend their behavior .. the point is however the bad behavior just can't be left un checked and ruin the good times of everyone else.

IMHO.. respectfully submitted.

I propose we put together a Community Action Team. The CAT team would consist of 5 to 6 people that would be like a grand jury. If someone files a complaint the CAT team investigates the information from the complainant and the defendant and other involved parties. If probable cause is found then the recommendation the CAT team is sent to the SYSOPS for execution. There only need to be 3 members of a CAT need to vote on any action. I'm sure it could be done in 24 hours or less. This way it takes the SYSOPS off the hook for reviewing film clips. OR we could have a SYSOPS as part of the CAT team.

At the Dec '07 BoD meeting .. the topic of misbehavior in the game came up... we spent some time on this .. and the community is 'fed-up' with it. The particular 'type' of misbehavior of player vrs player coms trash talk in particular was addressed and it apparntly does come under the CoC as 'room disruptions' .. so when a SysOps see's this type of 'bashing' etc .. they need to act on it. Kid in particular said he was fed up and would start using a heavy hand.

With the above said .. the topic is really 'closed' as it was a statement of concern to get the topic out in the open and to the direct attention of the BoD. Mission Accomplished.

Now what needs to be done is to prompt the SysOps to stay on top of this type of thing. It is also important for pilots to record .. and send in films when they have captured such type of behavior. It does not matter that it was between two players and 'you' were not involved .. because 'YOU" are involved in that you have to read and witness this! It is NOT good example for new players .. it taints new player impression .. and may even give the impression to new players that this type of open 'com wars' is ok .. and it is NOT.

When you see it .. record it .. and send it in.
