I've got some issues that I would like for the USAAC body to address. For the piece of mind of the event host, being Myself ,refs's and sysops
Whoever may be hosting the event.
The rules on each event will be posted on the event launch.
Rules will be givin out only once at the begining of the event.
Any players coming in late and ask what the rules are will be told to leave
and read the rules then come back,
We will no longer repeat the rules for late pilots.
any players that do not know the rules and break the rules after being told to read the rules
will be removed from the event ( no execptions. )
I am really sorry about this but If you had to run the event you would know why.
The first issue I have is with discipline within the Events. We really need an 'official' Event Manager to be able to "kick" a player from the room.. were he can't return. I use the term 'kick' and what I mean is any method or tool that will not allow a player to return to that event room for that given day. The net affect is that the player quickly learns once removed from a room .. he's out for the evening. We need to allow for a mistake being made where that action could be reversed/corrected... ie we selected the wrong player. Reason for this request is that there is NOT ALWAYS a Sysop available. Sometimes 'we' don't even know a sysops is in the room!!
An argument is always presented that " a sysops is normally in these rooms." Well I've been doing this long enough to know that sysops don't always fly a sysops tag in events .. and who really knows all the 'alt' names anyway. So a sysop may be present during some portion of the event, but maybe not the whole event. Sometimes sysops won't take any action UNLESS asked to .. and we don't know if there is one in the room to ask! Some sysops names are known to us.. but not all.
USAAC Events are very popular. Both Popgun and I are getting fed up with trying to maintain order so the mass majority can have fun .. and the event starts on time, etc. For the guys that give it all .. and work so hard to give something to the community .. I plead a case to the 'powers' that be to address this issue where USAAC Fun Events the USAAC Event Manager(s) have the following capabilities:
1) Fun Event Manager(s) have the ability to kick a player from a room where they cannot return (This event)
2) Fun Event Manager(s) have the ability to kick a player from a room where they can return ( i.e read rules then return)
3) Event Manager have a way to correct an erroneous action taken in request #1 (ability to correct an action)
There is an option where Tank can can force the player to check a box that they have read the rules before they can enter the event. However this still does not solve the problem in total, it simply makes them lie about having read the rules.. lol.
Another possibility for some corrective action .. is to close the room 5 minutes after start. This method will have NO late players joining .. therefor the rules only need to be reviewed once if at all. This has the obvious negative affects .. ie a player can't be late and still join, a player that experienced a dropped connection can't get back in, etc and so forth. So this is NOT a good solution in my book.
Map limits and Alt limits I'm sure are not included in the above statement. Some rules as reminders to pilots in combat are expected and appreciated and should be continued. The rules on each event will be posted on the event launch.
Rules will be givin out only once at the begining of the event.
The second issue I have is that an Event Manager should .. and I say should .. post these Rules/Action changes in an appropriate forum before being issued to the public. If there is going to be an issue or objection, I would rather a Manager not be embarrassed in public. In this particular case I have NO issue with what Pop issued as rule/action change .. but to set president for future Managers and Rules/Actions I would advise that these changes/actions be bounced off the USAAC STaff first..
The main topic of Pop post is ... HELP .. I CAN'T DEAL WITH THIS ANY LONGER. I feel the same way.
