UPDATE: USHA_Inferno made a post in the USAAC forums. He want to know if 9:00 PM this Sunday would be ok for our friendly match. I don't see a problem with it except that it will most likely be all of the US guys only because of the time and day. We have move than enough pilots to do this with, but are YOU going to show up???? What it going to be ???

ABOVE IS CURRENT INFO

BELOW IS OLD STUFF

==========================

MATCH DATE: SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2007 5:00 PM EST (WASHINGTON DC TIME)

Seems that the USHA boys have been doing a little talking amongst themselves. If I have this down correctly and I may be wrong, but I think the story goes like this. Popgun and Kid were having discussion about their "B" team pilots flying against us in a challenge match. Kid says his "B" Team would beat us. Popgun said it would probably be a close match but he thought BSS would win.

Action chimed in and said he would put $10 bucks on BSS winning. Popgun said the same and Kid has accepted.

Well I kinda think that this would be unfair to Kid because. I'm about 90% sure that we could beat USHA's "B" team.

The question is, which 6 pilots should I choose to fly against USHA? At this point I would think that just about any six of our pilots would fair pretty well against USHA's "B" team. I think you can see that I have a lot of confidence in you guys. Just for giggles, I would think if the following where put together as a "A" team for us we could probably give there "A" a good run for the money. This could be any of these guys listed here: Tbar, Air Boss, Saj, Picken, Red, Zarn Joker, Strife, Talon, Jonny, Top_Gun and Coldefire. These 12 guys have shown themselves to be really decent pilots amoungst all of us. I also think that any combination of these pilots would stand a really good chance of defeating USHA's "B" Team. Actually I could go deeper into our roster and add some more.

In fact I believe that with the right combination of the previously named pilots together we could give USHA's "A" team a fit.

SO, the question is. Who can I depend on for this challenge? Who will so up on reckoning day?

That is the question. I'll have to get more details on when we might have this match. I think Dec. 15th was one of the days mentioned.

USAFCAR,

Well you would definitely be one of my first alternate choices. As things progress and because a few of the 12 people who I mentioned probably won't make it to the match, if I where you I would keep my plane all fueled up and have my flight suit on just in case we have an emergency scramble.

As things go we want all the pilots available and to show up to the match if they can. We do in many case need substitutes for our matches. Some people have connection problems, some have computers that minds of there own and just shut off for no known reason ( My computer is well known for this. ) Not only is it nice to have more pilots than we need show up for a match just nice to have, it's also a little intimidating to the other squads, because they want to know why we have so many people showing up to fly, and they don't. What are we doing as a new squad that they, as a well established squad, not doing to have so many pilot wanting to fly for us.

Trust me when I say this that we just don't go out and ask people to fly with us for no reason. We watch them for a while to see how they fly and we also watch what they do and how they conduct themselves. A lot of time if I want you I will put out my well known advertisement banner. A lot of time if a person ask us we will send them the information of where to fill out the application, but if it is suspect or we have a reason on why a applicant is suspect, it will be turned downed at a drop of a hat.

So, should you show up to the match and be ready to fly? YES. Will you get a chance to fly? I want all of my pilots to fly. I'm not always able to accomplish this. A few times this year myself or Tbar sat out because we wanted our newer guys to get some experience. Don't think for a moment that I won't just throw you to the wolves and put you in a match with some very experienced pilots on the other team. That's the way I learned. You can ask Tbar about last years 4 squad matches when I had just joined the squad near the end of the season. I got ate up really bad and I loved every minute of it. It's kind of a tradition out here to throw the lambs to the wolves!!

I suggest that we make some sort of 1v1 qualification challenge or exam between our OWN pilots with eachother whether they are the ones nominated above or not and that test challenge goes like 1v1 rounds OR a ladder (like 5 or 10 kills who reach it first will win against the opposite pilot) and we collect points for each pilot and can decide who is really the best and deserve to be there, and then we pick those best pilots for the challenge match against USHA B team.

I think it will be more fair this way and we can be more confident and comfortable with the pilots we picked.

I suggest also that it all goes with a Cold Pass when going h2h to know who has the best turnfight skills.

I know it gonna take hours to qualify all pilots 1v1 against eachother but it's well worth it..at least for later matches against other squads not just this friendly match..

and i think we should do this qualification exam once at the beginning of each month and be announced on forums just like the RollCall.

but one problem coldfire.. i dont like this idea cuz it could give any one of these great pilots here at BSS a fit if they dont make it.. many of us sheep like to be at the top and can get cranky if they are not...

i would just hate for it to happen..... and if we do this then what will happen to the ones that dont make it... they wont get as much needed practice or matches.. i believe that a match is the best training opportunity

those are just my thoughts..
