Ok Fury, I get your point, but as far as I can see you are the only one that wants to keep the hidden tags.
All the other match rules are generally decided by the majority, so I assume if the majority wants "open" tags, that is what will happen in future Leagues.

Had to register a new name, because I forgot my PW and eveytime I tried to have it sent to me I got sent to ToW site (another argument for another topic)
I read from Tulla on here somewhere on this thread about not having an advantage anymore because he didn't know who he was shooting.
Are you kidding?
If you were good enough to kill him/her when you knew him/her then you should be good enough to kill that pilot if that pilot is flying a different tag, sheesh!
As for the long name tags......
Let the squads fly their tags how they want (during matches or in the rooms) them as long as it doesn't break any obsenity rules, sheesh!
Too many @&%&@ up rules is what takes the fun out of the game, not the tag names, are you kidding me?
So what if we fly [-Terror-]_,
or they fly[Warships]_,
or they fly [uSHA]_
or FD_A or B or C,
etc.
What is important is the friendships built over the years of flying this game. If someone dons a new tag and decides not to share his identity to you, was he/she really a friend or just an aquaintance?
The more rules you add the less you will have flying. Free will to make your own squad tag name based on the decisions of your squad ( your personal tag is up to you) is fine.
Having to fly a squad name dictated by people not in your squad because they are not sure who they are shooting is ludacris.
Too many (trying to be) chiefs and not enough indians..............
Stop making so many rules and lets just fly!
So what if this guy/gal has over 100 alias' or he/she as only 1 tag, does it REALLY matter to the game (during league match play) or just to your personal feelings........
Absolute power, corrupts absolutely.
Aloha.

OK, my 2nd 2 cents,Yes, simplicity, as in TS_Hawk, instead of -[Terror]-Hawk.My 2 cents,
"SIMPLICITY"
Competition + Human Nature = Controversy
Try to reinvent the light bulb, might get better results.
Luv this chit.........
No C/O should be critized for strategic decisions before or during a match, after all it's made for the team and all team members know it's all about the team not an individual because they want there team to come out with the win and Officers have to live with those decisions despite the outcome.
Temper,
When it was finally understood that TS was not participating in 2 Squad this year you had offered any of our TS pilots to fly with Evil if they wanted to fly 2 Squad, very nice jesture by the way, but did any of us take you up on that offer, why do you think we didn't? The answere to that is because we are a Squad that eats, sleeps and chits together and would not fly in competition unless all of us do as a Squad. Does that sound odd or sound like loyalty and dedication to our Squad? Point being made is as some have mentioned, decisions made for the best of the Squad right, wrong or indifferent, I understand your position on tactics, but have to concentrate when you talk out of both sides of your arse, lol.....
Now for the competition Tags,
As stated above, tatics used for that Squad to have an edge for the win, is it all about winning in competition, if you say no then you are dead wrong, it's Human Nature at it's finest and for this to be brought up just brings more desension.
Future Possible Rule Change for 2 Squad,
Give me or some of us a break, by changing competition rules does not hinge on this games survival.
You know what?
I'm not going to write a book on what's good and not good for this game, some should look in the mirror and will find the answeres. This thread does nothing but stir the pot on some that have nothing better to do.
Remember,
Typing to express how you feel sometimes is interpreted different; disclaimer..........
I think the other way round it becomes a fitting boot:I read from Tulla on here somewhere on this thread about not having an advantage anymore because he didn't know who he was shooting.
Are you kidding?
If you were good enough to kill him/her when you knew him/her then you should be good enough to kill that pilot if that pilot is flying a different tag, sheesh!
If you would be good enough to survive one or more opponents attack(s), you wouldn?t need to hide yourself in the mass of - and behind a dozen similar [-Terror-]_ - tags. This is why this stupid tag-tactic has been invented at all, because remaining ?unknown? is a tactical advantage. Seems you?re highly in the need of such advantages.....
Hiding behind a bush and to ambush your opponents is your glory way to win and your concept of personal skill ?
I knew you TS-guys would blow the same trumpet, as your fellow mate Fury did.
It is sad some squads putting the success of an invented tactic above everything, even the survival of the game and can?t understand where we coming from.
If this would be the case, we wouldn?t even discuss such a topic in public with you. We would confront you with new rules, without a word. Like sink or swim.Absolute power, corrupts absolutely.
Nevertheless we will discuss this topic further and in order to find a final decision, we probably will have to poll it out. And everyone will have to bear with the decision of the majority.
And to add something about the amount of rules and the statement ?the more the rules, the less the fun?
As I know most of you guys are big fans of american football (because of my personal ?superbowl? - traumata, lmao)
Do you know how thick the set of standard-rules for american football (or also ?Baseball?) is ? You know them all, don?t you ?
I don?t see what kind of argument (?the more the rules, the less the fun?) this is. Is it because you can?t remember when a new rule got added and how it is called ? Or is it because you?re in danger someone takes an unfair advantage away from you, so you?re not allowed to use it anymore ?
You got used to a maplimit, to prevent you running from the north-pole to the south-pole and back, although you didn?t like it, you got used to not runway kill someone in order to not lose players because of frustration and you?ll get used to each further rule added to the set.
Because I know you?re clever.
The game still developes and also the tactics. So have the rules. The day we stop developing and discussing about, we stall. It?ll be the beginning of the end.

LoL I expected saying Fury was the only one would get some posters in here. I didn't expect the personal attacks though.
I will continue with the discussion, even though my suggestions are ludicrous and I talk out of both sides of my arse.
Come on Ho, are you serious???
A discussion should not cause dissension. We are all adults here.

Nope, I'm not kidding. I stated that the hidden tags take some of the fun out of the game. I still think that..Too many @&%&@ up rules is what takes the fun out of the game, not the tag names, are you kidding me?
So if a rule is added will you quit playing? I asked the same of Fury but got no answer..The more rules you add the less you will have flying
I'm not trying to be a Chief. I do not want to be a Chief. I am making suggestions and discussing them..Too many (trying to be) chiefs and not enough indians..............
Both, imo..does it REALLY matter to the game (during league match play) or just to your personal feelings........
I had no idea I was corrupted. I accept contributions, not bribes. <---JOKE!!.Absolute power, corrupts absolutely.

That's not what I was told by 2 of your squad members. However, it's off topic and not for public reading anyways..When it was finally understood that TS was not participating in 2 Squad this year you had offered any of our TS pilots to fly with Evil if they wanted to fly 2 Squad, very nice jesture by the way, but did any of us take you up on that offer, why do you think we didn't? I've said I understand the tactics. Several times..As stated above, tatics used for that Squad to have an edge for the win, is it all about winning in competition, if you say no then you are dead wrong, it's Human Nature at it's finest and for this to be brought up just brings more desension.

No it doesn't. I said that was off topic, sorry for the confusion. I should have started another thread on that topic..Give me or some of us a break, by changing competition rules does not hinge on this games survival.
I am looking in the mirror and I see myself. I guess that means you think I am not good for the game. Damn Hawk, that cuts pretty deep..I'm not going to write a book on what's good and not good for this game, some should look in the mirror and will find the answeres. This thread does nothing but stir the pot on some that have nothing better to do.

I will add more to my previous post.
I agree that hiding who one is in a match or even in open rooms is an advantage. If it were not, who would you? And I also agree it takes some of the fun out of it.
Now does it have its disadvantages ? I say yes to that too. We all have our favorite "buds" to duel with or go after in this game. Me for one, when I am flying in FFA, I will almost always go after the better pilot first or the one who just shot me. Take that to a match and you do not know who is the better pilot. So, it is more difficult to use a sqds ace to set up an ambush.
Advantage or not, hiding your tags does indeed take something away from the comrodary of the game.
My opinion on this matter as well as TKFM's as Gelp posted.
Now as for the manipulation of messing with the number of pilots who fly in a match and in each half:
I feel both sqds should be equal given both have the minimum of 6 and above to start the match. Changing nations and the half should not alter the number of pilots allowed to fly. If a sqd starts with 8 as GE, they must allow their opponent to fly 8 as GE regardless of losing pilots or not. If a sqd starts with 6 pilots as GB and want to fly 8 as GE, then it is up to the GB sqd to allow this or not.
Bottom line, to fly more GE vs GB/SU is an advantage and should not be allowed unless both C/O's and the ref allow it.
Temper, you are in the good with the topic and I see nothing wrong with the discussion. Cheers mate!

Those who know me understand that I seldom take anything seriously. At least not in the virtual world. However, I know that most of you do take the game seriously and I respect that so I will try to contribute to this topic without facetiousness and without insulting anyone.
Frankly I can see merit in almost everyone?s suggestions and I?m sure that all are made with sincerity. It would be a shame if any of these opinions were treated with disdain or with personal insults. Let?s try to be respectful of each other and each other?s views.
First the question of tags. I understand why this has developed the way it has and there is some merit in the idea that the arena is leveled if no one knows who each individual is. That way everyone can concentrate on attacking the enemy without personalities entering into it and can defend their friends impartially. On the other hand it makes winging difficult if you don?t know where your wing happens to be at any given time. The first squad I ever belonged to when the game was on the Microsoft Zone was called ?The Damned? We did not use squad tags at all, just our own registered names. Targeting was a feature and I know that we used to plan to take out the opposition?s star pilots first.
Frankly I don?t think it really matters one way or the other but it would be good if there was a universal approach. If every squad adopts the same system of tags there can be no advantage or disadvantage to either team. I favor the notion that tactics should be limited to the actual combat and not to things like tag manipulation. That takes us to a second point of how many pilots a squad should field in a contest and whether some should sit out. Again it would be good if tactics could be limited to the actual combat but that?s not quite as simple as the question of tags. Squads obviously feel entitled to pick the pilots they want to fly against a particular opponent and if they have a choice of picking 6 good pilots to fly against 6 good pilots they will want to do that rather than pick 6 good pilots and 2 rookies to fly against 8 good pilots on the other side. I don?t see a perfect answer to this one. The only suggestion I can think of is to stipulate a fixed number of players that each team must field?.perhaps six. It is then up to each squad to ensure that they have that number and any additional attendees would sit it out. To cater for the rookies who, obviously would also like to fly perhaps those squads with the greater numbers could field second division teams.
As for rules in general again I understand the differences of opinion. I believe some of the attitudes stem from national differences. Americans have a different attitude to rules than do Europeans. Even amongst Europeans there are differences. Asian peoples, as was clear when we used the Korean site, also have a different attitude. Some folks think that any rules are unduly burdensome. Some think that rules are made for the guidance of wise men and the adherence of fools and some think that there should be a rule for everything and that they must be blindly adhered to. Obviously there has to be some rules. Equally obviously rules should be kept simple and to a minimum. They should be aimed at maintaining order without spoiling the fun.
I tend to think that there should be no attempt to rule on things that are almost impossible to adjudicate?for example spawning. I don?t much care about things like attacking air fields. That?s why there are anti-aircraft guns to ensure that you cannot do so without exercising some skill to avoid the risks involved. I realize, however, that this is a very sensitive subject that never fails to inflame passionate discussion so I have no suggestions to make other than leave the rules as they are. All who care about the game should also do their best to encourage gentlemanly behavior and do so by example rather than by vitriolic abuse.
In the end it will be up to our appointed officials to examine all the opinions and make decisions on rules to the best of their ability. I for one will respect these decisions regardless of my personal opinion..
