Our Soon To Be Newest Pilot...

This is good .. and this is bad.

This is good

1) really every BSS Pilot should be recruiting and helping new players.

This is bad Because:

1) Slayer .. that name .. is a known ace pilot. Now if this guy got that actual name and is really a new pilot .. great .. but otherwise .. maybe he's playing with your head?.

2) Always ask the CO or XO first. Now the policy will be .. but is not yet .. that all BSS Pilots will be 'empowered' to extend the 'temporary' useage of a BSS tag. At this time no one is authorized to let someone use a BSS tag except the CO and XO. I'm not going to spank you .. because .. like I said .. soon we will be letting all the pilots know about "empowerment" and our policy on the use of a BSS tag. Keep in mind there are some restrictions .. such as the authorization from anyone but the CO and XO can't be used for more than 3 days without all the proper paperworks and procedures being followed. Letting someone use the tag right away does have a positive impact in that they feel 'part of' right off .. but you best talk with Joker..

3) This is bad because we don't know this fellow .. what if he does NOT PASS the test?? eh?

4) This is bad because we do not want any further pilots that can't register on our forums .. or can't use Team Speak..

Very well put Tbar.

I can atest to what Tbar has stated as to having a tag that someone has used in the past.

When I first started playing AA I used a tag of MikeBravo which was the tail designation of the Marine Squadron, VMA-142 Flying Gators which I was attached to when I was in the corp. People started telling me I was such a "Joker" so I changed my tag to JoKeR. Tbar asked me if I really wanted to do that? I said "yes". He said "it might cause you some issues", but never said much more about it until I told him about my converstation with TS_Knightmare.

It seems that yes someone a long while back use to use the tag Joker. I have no idea as to whom this person was, but I did feel the "heat" once I started using this tag and I still do. This "Joker" eveidently was a very bad dude and caused a lot of problems for a lot of people, not unlike a few of the pilots now flying with some well know squads now.

This all came to light one evening when TS_Knightmare came on our TS and was looking for Tbar. I responded that I had not seen Tbar so Knightmare left. A few seconds later Knightmare came back on TS and asked me a peculiar question. He asked how long I had been playing AA. I told him I had been playing for about 6 months, which was correct at that time. He really got quiet for a minute and then said. "Hey Joker, I really owe you and apology. I thought you where someone else that use to fly the Joker tag. Do you have a lot of better pilots always shooting at you? If you do that probalby why." Well the answer to that question was "yes, I do have a lot of the better pilots attcking me."

Well, that's the story of the Joker tag. I'm sure that there is a lot more to it than what I know or have heard. As far as the so called "better pilots" attacking me? Well all that has done is made me a better pilot in the long run from what I have learned and I think that I have matured much more quickly as a pilot in AA because of it. I still make a lot of silly little mistakes and probably will continue to do, but I'm still learning and with my fellow BSS pilots I will continue to grow.

The JoKeR will live forever!

Perhaps we need a recruitment pack

maybe an email or perhaps a single link where potential new recruits can go to get the nescessary info required to become a member of our squad (im thinking that an email is the best as outlined later)

as a suggestion and this is of course not an exhaustive list here so any input/ideas or even deletions would be good or even just post your opinions

the contents should have info on the following:

home page link and how to sign up

links to all other relevant sites including any speacial instructions

one site that comes to mind is Team Speak and how to connect and correctly set up sound settings like VOX this should include details on settings for AA in game when on team speak such as turning down the in game sounds

perhaps a code of conduct/joining instruction/or constitution so to speak (I think you can all see what i'm saying here)

I am thinking of an email format that all members could be sent and save as a draft email say as "Tow BSS Joining Instruction"

that way when someone shows interest we all have the power to send them the info required to join...giving them no excuses...and the withholding of sensitive info such as forum PW can be withheld until they pass a security clearance (So to speak) or in other words are up and running and have reported in on the forums and teamspeak...any thoughts so far guys?

they (The potential recruits) can print out the email and run through it as a check list step by step..perhaps a deadline could be set for them to complete there enlistment thus seperating the serious from the time wasting OXYGEN THIEFS that only want to give us a bad name such as the recently discharged wally...whos name escapes me at this time

I think the best thing about it being an email is that for them to join the very first thing required of them is to release to Squad their email addy thus eliminating the past issues of contacting the new recruits...let me know if im heading off on the wrong path guys...

thoughts please guys...is this perhaps too strict...or perhaps too complicated..or maybe you can think of some other things to add

cheers

All that needs to be done is for you guys to recruits people to our website: bss.tidesofwar.net

Have them go to the "Enlistment" page and fill out the application.

Everything after that is sent to the recruits by Tbar or myself. We would appreciate you getting these people hooked up on Team Speak before hand. We definitely want to be able to talk to them person to person. If they cannot do that then you may be wasting your time with that person. TEAM SPEAK IS A MUST HAVE FOR TWO WAY COMMUNICATIONS!!!! If they don't want team speak or can't use team speak, then we don't need them.
