I hate this mission, infact i hate MTB's I just cannot get the hang of them they are buggers to handle especially in rough conditions that my computer keeps setting the mission in... i am still trying to work out how I managed to complete mission 5!!!

I for one will not be piloting MTB's in Multiplayer its a skill I just cannot master, i like bigger boats...

Give it another few goes Commander, it's a really great feeling when you finish this one. I was forever failing to get the last one... but when you finally get it ImageImageImage

Love the MTB's in the rough conditions, it's a great to go crashing thru the waves - although if you have any 'business' to take care of it does make it a little tricky!

Oh what did I get myself into buying this game?? Will my wife and kids ever see me anymore?

I have played many sub sims, and find this one to be sometimes less challenging than others, but this is also more realistic than others. I definitely think like a submariner, and in fact have avoided most sinkings, even when a Destroyer tried to ram me when I stayed at periscope depth a little too long. Even with the crazy zig zagging, I have had some success in sinking or stopping destroyers with bow shot torpedoes.

HOWEVER, being a fan of the PT-109 movie, and someone who stated many times as a child that I would own a PT boat (which I do not), trying my hand with the MTB is excruciatingly difficult. Heck, I just learned how to zig zag, but am having a hell of time when I want to get the boat to go straight at a target. I have been reading the Posts here and elsewhere, and have not had much practice yet.

I also have not yet read the PDF User's manual. Any recommendations for a MTB Newbie would be appreciated.

Please don't bash me too much yet. I need to get good before I challenging you old salts on the Internet.

As you can see here, I'm scuttling this mission and moving on to the next.

This mission should be a super-arcade patrol mission - not part of a good campaign with a good storyline.

There is zero realism in 4 subs bobbing to the surface like corks in front of your eyes. It defies any war strategy sane sub captains would employ.

If there were some way that the subs could already be on the surface and the MTBs would be moving in from a distance and the subs couldn't fast dive as quick as usual for some reason (repairs, reloading, whatever), then there's a story here and a possibility to make the mission challenging but not absurd.
