Where's The Fletcher Dd In Mission 8?

Playing as the American surface commander. I get to mission 8 and receive command of the USS Stonewall Jackson, a Fletcher class DD. However, once I start mission 8 it turns out to be a Buckley class DE instead!

Did sombody goof up here?

It would sure be awfully handy to have a full DD when it comes to mission 10. There, you get hammered by a bunch of destroyers and a battleship while trying to save your convoy. With just a Buckley DE (with 4" pop-guns) against a couple flotillas of full DDs plus a battleship, I'm simply hitting a brick wall here.

PS

I do know the difference between a Fletcher Destroyer, a Buckley Destroyer Escort, and a Fury Corvette. A Fletcher has two smoke stacks and five 5" guns mounted inside real turrets (not those open-backed gun shields on those 4" guns).

Any chance of a fix here?

What version of Enigma do you own?

This is confirmed as a bug in the German Retail Version.

A patch is being worked on to fix it

I have the American retail release of Enigma.

I also experienced random crashes to the desktop. The crashes seem to occur less frequently now since I increased my RAM to a full gigabyte.

All-in-all, I'm looking forward to future releases of Enigma expansions. You have a real gem here - especially when you have FSAA turned on!

I had the same problem in the Australian release

I have the UK release, and have lost my US DD Damm hard dring to defeat the RNE battlegroupe crybaby:

Basically, this occurs if you haven't accumulated enough points/rank. I whizzed through the US campaign and, as a consequence, didn't recieve a DD until after completing all 11 missions.

You think 8 is hard as a DE, you should try 9, 10 & 11! Anyway, I managed it with a Buckley so it can't be that hard

I have the DD i gess you need the rank of commander to get it so i shall now go back and do mission 10a

One alternative , is : Start > Search > Enigma > and right click open , the mission logs , You will see the one you need , LFN , IGM , USA etc , and surface , or sub.... Then : Delete it .

This means you will be starting over with that particular Campaign ,, but only the one you deleted ,, the other sub and surface etc ,, Five other ones if you only deleted one of them will be unchanged .

Or , up to you ,, you might get the rank at the end .

I used this on one of my Preference names , just to get all six ranks highest !

( The vanity , and the bragging ... )

It is one way of doing it tho ' .. unless you really want to KEEP that destroyer escort .. ( Which is variety to with in later campaigns maybe , and not always a destroyer . )

I've got the American retail version as well, and I'm seeing the same problem. I'm a Lt. Cmdr. (just got promoted), and I'm still aboard the DE. I'm not quite sure where you figure out your experience level, but this problem is pretty much a game-killer for me. Restarting the campaign doesn't really appeal to me, isn't there another way around this problem? Thanks!
