Hello Fellow Pilots of the BSS

Roll call for Monday night practice for the US Squad held on 15/04/2007

ToW_Strife, Present

Tow_JoKeR, Present

ToW_Tbar, Excused

Everyone else, I don't know. I can assume that they knew we had a scheduled practice at that time, because there where at least 12 views of the post I made on this forum yesterday.

Anyway, I want to thank FD_Skydancer for coming up and flying with Strife and myself. We had a blast and learned a few things. The one thing we learned is that Skydancer is one very good pilot. In the beginning, it seemed like most of the time he was taking Strife and myself out quite quickly. Then Skydancer came up on Team Speak with us and gave us a little guidance which helped quite well and where able to team up on him a few times. All in all Skydancer was able to make things favorable for himself when he wanted to.

Ok guys, what are we going to do as a team? Are you getting bored with AA? Are you getting bored with BSS? Is it the time or day when have practice? Whats up? I'm looking for feedback which will help us put some life back into the squad. What are your suggestions? Anytime you see me flying you are welcome to ask me for help or to open up a practice room for private instruction. I do not mind, but if you do just remember I'm not that good of a pilot and probably will never be, but if I can help you in anyway to make your experience here with us more enjoyable I will. I don't mind being your target if that's what it takes to keep you guys in the game and having fun with the squad.

I like flying with all of you guys, and some of you I haven't yet had the pleasure of flying with, but we definitely need to practice together so we can work on tactics and such. We've got other teams that are willing to help us from time to time and I feel we should take advantage of there generosity.

Realize that we have nothing that is mandatory, but please respect the squad and let us know whats happening in your life and let us see if we can make some changes that might help make your flying experience with BSS more enjoyable. Its all about the fun and the friendship and the team work!

Thanks!

Good Post JoKer

I"m sorry I did not make practice .. but I had a feeling in advance that I was going to have company on Monday night .. and it turned out that I did and we all ended up at the hospital-rehab center visiting with my mother. It was one of those things where I just had to go .. a RL issue. So, sorry I was not there as you know I would have been if I could.

Posting in the forums for something that is going to happen "tonight' or very near future .. what you need to do is send an email with a "link" to your post. All you need in that email is something simple like: Practice tonight.. click here: Link" .. simple and clean. If they can.. they will :)

Again.. good post .. don't get dis hearted if you didn't get the response desired . we just keep working on it. :)

hey i'm still about was around last night about 1am u know u saw me but hell i was so tired i thought it was tuesday night being after midnight :) RL if messing me about at the moment but I'm actually getting up more than normal. Seems to be in the day though when all the honest people are at work :) (long story)

anyway in short I'm here your here, T's here, Saj, Zarn, Red, Striffe of the top of my head (wife wanting my attention) lets get something set in stone Saj you do weds nights right? if so I'll try my damndest to make that and have a look at the Euro pilots we have mustering. I'm sure the Us guys know who's good and who's not (for reliability not flying skill!) we need to get BSS back flying as a unit rather then 2 undermaned wings!

Hiya Picken

Yes, I did see and get shot down by you serveral times last night in FFA. I owe you one m8!

The reference(s) I made are for the US squad guys who don't show up for our practices. I don't and I won't name who they are.

I don't expect our Euro Squad to show up and practice with the US squad on late weekday nights. So everything I wrote about here pertains to US squad members.

(Actually, I'm kinda hoping we can clear the roster of the non-participants and move on with the people who really want to fly with us.) Hell, what do we have to do here. All anyone has asked for is some communication, plain and simple.

So Picken, my friend, If I have somehow offended you, please accept my apology I have not intended anything here for you.

And don't get me wrong I have practiced with several different members of our US squad, but we never can seem to get them in a room together at one time.

I feel that what is happening is when we get a couple of new guys, they show up for one or two weeks of practice hoping to fly with our team and all they see is one or two or four of our regular pilots show up. What kind of message are we sending them when we don't show the responsibility of showing up?

Since I started playing and back in January 2007, I have known that we have a practice night on Mondays at 9:00 PM EST for the US Squad. and Sundays at 1:00 EST before squad events for US & EURO Squads.

I'm pretty sure that there is also a scheduled Euro squad practice scheduled during the week.

I would just like to see more participation from our US guys or at the very least, info or communication from them if they may attend or can't attend. Its just a common courtesy to let the TEAM know if you plan on attending IF the event pertains to your side of the world. Let me be the first to say that I am also guilty of not always informing someone of my intentions, but I am trying to do a much better job of it.

but then again I've been told that I may be flying a little to much a that I should slow down before I get burned out. Well if I do I will let you know that I'm going to take a break for a while, because thats the right thing to do. If I leave, and you don't hear from for any length of time, please assume that I am dead, sell my planes, and have a party in my honor with funds you receive from the sale.

In closing I'm trying to pick up the slack and tighten it up a bit. I want to help in every way possible to make BSS the best squad flying. I'm not in charge of anything and I haven't asked to be put in charge of anything, but I'm trying to do my part and help a little. Respect your team and your team mates, communicate, inform and over come. Aaaaa, Wait I think that's supposed to be Improvise, adapt, and over come.

=============== pretend you see it ===========

Guys, I really love the way you two are trying to be good squad members and your love for the squad .. your loyal and caring and all that. It really brings a tear to me eye... I want to say I join you in that feeling of getting everyone active and in the air. Great reads ..

Running the BSS is really hard on me .. I have so much to do. I give this squad my all.. every time I can. We are very close my friends .. very close to having nice structure .. all we need do is keep recruiting. I hate to say it .. but it takes 10 new recruits to find one JoKeR or Picken or Saj, and so forth... .. that part we just have to keep doing.. keep trying .. and its up to ALL squad members to keep and eye out for new guys.. or gals :) It really please me to no end to see conversation such as you are having here .. and trying to do YOUR part... it really pleases me to see other pilots step up .. and get in the cockpit..

Most of the conversation has been lately awards/ribbons .. and getting pilots at practice and matches.

Consider this .. there is a schedule .. no guess work needed. Its posted on the BSS site that no one ever visits. . lol. Take another look at http://bss.tidesofwar.net

Couple of areas I want you to really study:

1) Pilot Roster

Saj and I do a pretty good job keeping this up to date, if there are any errors/corrections needed, etc .. simply make a post or email to Saj and CC the Co (me). We will make the corrections and or inform you what we can won't do.

Future/Planned: I simply did not have the time to develop and install all the system .. so some were planned for but not done yet. Some of these system if complete would and might help us out a lot.

> Click on a pilot name .. popup box with their service record .. date joined, matches attended, medals .. and IM INFORMATION. We have not been trading IM infomation much .. its a valuable tool. You see other pilots on line .. you give them a holler.. he lets go fly!

2)Enlistment Form

Do you know you can simply send someone here.. have the fill out the application .. then YOU should follow up as much as possible .. make them YOUR buddy and YOU be their mentor .. that way they feel they belong right off.. and we might just keep them around :)

3) Home page has a link for Team Speak

Did you know that? If you get someone to install TS or use TS .. you might find this an ez way to get them on our TS with you. Try it .. log off Team Speak .. go to our site ..and hit the RADIO icon .. see what happens..

4) HQ is not done yet. It is a system unto itself. But when it is done you won't need to go anyplace for AA or BSS except HQ!

5) FLIGHT SCHEDULE

READ THIS PAGE ... READ THIS PAGE ..

Here you find our schedule .. this is where the practice and matches are found .. this Saj keeps up to date like a change of underwear .. every day if necessary!! Now keep in mind this schedule does NOT reflect friendlies or short notice fun events .. its simply says: Hey guys .. we do this every Monday night .. every Monday until foot ball season in USA. Hey guys we do this every Wed Night for EURO pilots. Hey guys .. as a TEAM.. every Sunday we have a WHOLE TEAM practice at 1PM USA TIME and 6PM London Time

USA ToW Pilots also uses the Wed Night LTS as a "Wing" practice night. ToW guys get on the same team and fly as a "Wing". I have noticed on occasion that some EURO pilots stay up late and do this even also from time to time .. great!!

Euro Pilots could use some UK/TAA fun event to also use as an anchor practice schedule.

So... all we need to do is communicate :) But, keep in mind we need to remind each other of the tools we already have....

Love this thread guys .. u bring a tear to me eye :) .. a happy tear :)

Thanks Strife,

Now that we have another volunteer. I could probably use a little graphics help when we come up to the ribbon and award design phase. We are not quite there yet and we have a ways to go. (Check out the post about ribbons and awards. You should get some idea of where we might like to go with them.)

I know that Tbar and Saj have thier hands full with all that they have going so I think we should take a little of the load off a give them help when they ask. My only problem is down time for work, but I do get quite a bit of free time too.
