A Ref's version of toall.txt

I don't know the "in game chat for Ref"

I think what you might be talking about is the toall.txt file and the pre-programed broadcast message?

Example:
?? Hail USAAC! ??
? ? Salute USAAC ! ? ?

? ** SALUTE ** ?

Don't concern yourself with the STARS, etc at this time. Let's get the basics going first.

You have a file in your main air attack folder C:\Program Files\Air Attack\ called something like: "ToAll.TEMPLATE.txt" rename this file to toall.txt to allow it to be used in game.

Open the now named file: toall.txt Lets put some example in your can work with.. just to try it out.

The toall.txt file should be empty so lets put the first line of text in as follows:

Greeting Pilots!

Welcome to this USAAC Event!

I am your Ref today

5 Minutes to Start...

CO's Ready?

1 Minute to Start...

START YOUR ENGINES !!

SCRAMBLE--SCRAMBLE--SCRAMBLE !!

10 MINUTES REMAIN

5 MINUTES REMAIN

1 MINute REMAINS

Prepare to Disengage !!

Round Over .. Stop Firing !!

Save and Close this file. Now start your game local mode or a practice flight.

To use these commands in game hit Alt+Enter.

You will see all the message come up on screen, select a 'number' of the message you want to broadcast and hit 'enter'. You message will go on screen to ALL.

The exact message table that the Ref's use I don't have. Someone will email or post you one to use.

The format for the ASCII characters for STARS and so forth I don't have handy right now, but someone will post that for you also. You can copy the character in the post (I think) for the STAR and past that into you toall.txt lines and it will probably work. Play with it, get used to using it .. then set up as you want things.

Trick: You can save the toall.txt with different names so you can have different strings already to go. Just rename the file you have save to toall.txt and your ready to go. For example I have toall_squad.txt toall_LTS.txt toall_basic.txt What I do is rename or swap out these files to: toall.txt for the appropriate usage.

The above is what *I think* you are asking for. If not .. well I tried :)

If you have a programmable keyboard .. this can be a lot easier in game.

If you have some type of macro that can broadcast to the game via the 'enter' key.. this can be really useful and helpful. I use a programmable keyboard that will send several screen commands at one time so I can 'group' message into one send string .. that is why I'm so fast with the messages during LTS.

A decent programmable keyboard is about 20.00+ the normal keyboard. I would suggest for what you are going to be doing that investing in one might .. just might make your job a whole lot ez'er. It does for me. I'll ask the PC Doc to get some prices on them.. he gets special prices.

You will probably get several follow up posts on this topic that may be able to offer more help than I did. Consider my input as a starting point.

These are the ones I use:

??? C/O's READY?? ???

???START YOUR ENGINES???

?? SCRAMBLE SCRAMBLE ??

??10 MINUTES REMAINING??

??5 MINUTES REMAINING??

??PREPARE TO DISENGAGE??

??STOP SHOOTING??

??GAME OVER - LAND NOW??

??WATCH THE MAP LIMIT??

Here are the rest of the symbols:

?- * ? ? ?

Just copy and paste them, you can have a maximum of 33 lines in your toall file.
