4 Squad TAA - Jan 14 2007

Its a real shame .. we had a three week break .. all the holidays behind us and so forth :(

Hardly any plots showed up at all... the old trusties were there.

1) Tbar

2) Saj

3) Picken

4) Zarn

5) HotShot

6) Ryrin

7) Grim

Grim showed up for the 2nd scrim, but couldn't stay any longer.

HotShot had to leave for the 4th

ToW - Rb - GE - Evil

Rb, GE and Evil were NOT as good as I thought they were .. real shame we actually had a good chance of getting out of the cellar ...but we blew it.

Every one gave their best .. but we really didn't fly smart in the second halve as GE and US. First half we did fine as SU and GB but again .. because we are short on numbers compared .. we were easy marks and feel prey to all the 'noob' tricks the opposition gives .. we got ropped .. we got pined .. and we liked to fight over our own base :(

We can't seem to remember the 'rules' ... 1 square limit!!

I see we need some more work :)

But .. what is nice is that we hung in there regardless .. :)

We were ON TIME .. and Gents .. :)

.. and even though I was frustrated to the max at not being able to get my GE guns to hit anything .. we had a ball :)

well played very1, looking at the scores i was sure we were closer in the SU quater then Nemo has given credit for??? however i never hit record for that quater and so cant check.

The way I see it we more then held our own even if the score doesnt reflect that. I dont think Evil had an easy time with us 1st quater and then I think even though we were pinned and loosing easy kills GB we caused them some grief once the US boys started fighting to our North.

Ok my opinion of the GE quater is that we made a huge rookie mistake (which as a rookie myself along with a rookie squad IS GOING TO HAPPEN!!) Tbar :!?:

we as a squad, ignore the pin tryed to mix it in dogfights with every1, ok so the other squads took the fights over us to pick up our kills, but only a few of us actually made a brake, most just flew of the runway and at a bunch of nme planes, rather then braking away getting some alt and boom n zooming the squabling masses. Now Tbar I understand this must be frustrating for you mate but remember your not flying with a well oiled squad of hardend vets quite yet!

Then we have the finnal fall to pieces and collapse as US, one thing I must say is that we didnt roll over and quit. So we only picked up 9 kill, so we died alot. IMO we fell apart as we started flying as inderviduals and not a squad, something that will come together in time. We were outnumbered the full match and this did reflect on the score, I must say I'm disapointed by the low numbers as its the first time I've seen it here at Tides. Hopefully we will be back to full strength for the next match!

IMO the main things we need to work on are as follows

-Flying as a Squad, be it in pairs, 4's or as an 8 (we need to work on all IMO)

-Flying the GE planes effectivlly

now I know people are screaming US US US! but I say most (not all) squads struggle US, we will while we are up and coming as we are at a disadvantage with plane as well as skill. However the GE planes if used well can be much more devistating than the Spit, which I'm sure we are all quite comfortable in.

-Effective methods of avoiding Pins, and also Tactics for breaking out of them (I for 1 before yesterday had never been in that possition, and p----- off vibes down the comms didn't help, a friendly dirrect instruction would of)

"Tbar+Saj brake north, Grim+Picken South, Zarn+Ryrin go west"

grab the bull by the horns but dont scream in his face!

I hope this doesnt come across as negative, hell I still had a blast with you guys, and can see improvment in all the pilots, just this time we were targeted alot more then we have been in the past. Hell sure we will do the same in years 2 come :P

Thanks guys look forward to flying with you all soon!

Problem might also be "listening" on the coms ..

Each and every round I mentioned "pair up" .. sometimes even telling the pilots who to pair up with :)

Each and ever round .. I think I said .. don't do battle over our Base .. take the fight to them.

Now I know in the heat of battle things can easily get mixed up .. however even rookies need to know when to get back on track ;)

Yes - When pinned you need to 'break out". But .. listen .. you have to make a plan to break .. on coms so everyone knows the opposite directions to go in. If we all break undera pin in the same direction .. no difference. If we break out in different directions .. then someone has a chance.

I don't think we ever felel to pieces .. but I do feel that pilots didn't know how to 're-group'.

I also think too many pilots give it a go 'solo' and this is a big no no for rookies .. even pilots that have experience should NOT do that with a rookie squad .... fly as a team. I think I said that a few times also :)

We are doing ok .. but a practice with that number of pilots in the ring .. is hard to duplicate.

The comments I make about our short comings ... make no mistake .. I'm proud of you guys and where we are at this time .... THEY .. KNOW .. WE .. are there! We are a pain in the butt to all of them :)
