Well New Recruit Delta 1 .. lets take the WHOLE process step by step even though your question seemed to be specific to Team Speak.
1 First off, welcome to the Black Sheep Forums and our Squads home communication tool!
2 Second .. our website is http://bss.tidesofwar.net. This is our website, but it is unfinished and the application page is not up yet, so you have to use the ToW_Club application page to join the squad .. the age and Club donation fees are waived. http://www.tidesofwar.net/clubs/index.php
3) Third The process for joining the squad is not complex but does require some information and so forth, so if you decide to join up with us you would have to complete Step 2. Then we send you an email that introduces you to the rest of the squad and gives you all the url's, passwords and info you need.
Team Speak.
Tides of War "chat" page has a complete section on TS .. tells you where to DL it from and then gives some setup examples. http://www.tidesofwar.net/chat/
OK.. now lets assume you have Dl'ed the program and installed it. All you have to do is is click this link: http://www.tidesofwar.net/bs/gllcts2_webpo...in.php?detail=1 when the box comes up .. simply hit connect with no connection info , and/or account info .. leave it all blank .. Just hit 'connect or join" and you will connect to ToW TS server. You will connect as a 'guest".
At this point you might ask .. don't I need a microphone or something? Well the answer is yes, but you just proved that the TS application is installed and you can connect via the link above.
If you have followed the set up guide on Tides .. you don't need that link above, you can simple "connect" as the guide tells you to
To 'register' on ToW TS .. we will guide you thru that when/if you become a member. You don't need to be a ToW member to visit with us on TS
OK.. once you are on the server .. look down the list of rooms .. in the Air Section is a room called Black Sheep Squadron .. double click that room to join it.
If you don't see any BSS members in their room .. look for a ToW_member who might be able to help you futher.
What you do need is a headset and mic or you can't speak. We say headset because you are a 'pilot' and you need to keep your hands free to fly, etc. You can just go with a desk top microphone, however they usually don't do very well.... and annoy everyone! Headsets are cheap .. about 20.00 US or less. Yes you can buy more expensive units .. but wait on that. Buy a cheap one first. In fact, there is a good 'deal' price at ToW via 1pcdoc where you can get a headset for around 8.00 US.
Even if you don't have a headset yet, you can still log into TS at ToW and "type" messages. Then we will know you don't have a mic but can hear us .. so we can give you instructions etc..
Matches and pracices ... Team Speak is invaluable. Its how we tell each other what to do .. who is attacking. For practices .. its much easier to tell you via voice what to do etc...
TS will work on any old computer with AA running. Some folks say they can't run TS and fly because TS takes up too much bandwidth or over taxes their machine. There are very few legitimate cases of this .. very few. A 56k dial up modem will handle Air Attack and TS without problem IF the ISP is up to par. The only thing that can tax your machine or game performance outside you ISP is memory. If you only have 32 megs of ram .. then get another stick of mem and your A ok. If you have 64 meg or ram .. and your machine is taxed .. then get another stick of ram again.. Ram is cheap for an old machine .. and most likly half the guys on the squad have ram sticks laying around in old machines they would give you.
Point is .. it will all work
OK.. finally. You didn't say you were wanting to join up .. just that you needed TS info etc, but if your intention is to join up .. then you are authorized to create a ToW_name Tag If you don't join up, please don't use a ToW_name tag ... if you are going to join .. Welcome to the Black Sheep Bro
