Sub Hunting

I have been playing for several months, I do good when it's surfce to surface, but when I am hunting subs it takes me hours. I can never hit them with depth charges, I always wait for them to surface for air and hit them with deck guns. any hints on finding the depth of a sub????

What is so important about 170 meters?

In ERT, the charges explodes on contact, so aiming deep and you are likely sure to get a hit

no point in setting them past 200 though becasue they are not going to get down any deeper than that.
