So sorry. Perhaps you saw the floods we have had here in Pennsylvania. My cable modem service was disrupted. I am very hard at work getting it all ready tonight and tomorrow morning. All should be ready by the evening.
Briefing is prepared and posted. The mission has been uploaded to the missions folder on the ftp.
Sorry. RL issues at home meant I didnt get to uploading the missioon to the server yesterday. What happended, if anything. Maybe you hosted at home?
We could always run it next week.

Gos,
I uploaded the mis files to the server:
1) renamed thisweek.mis to OLD-thisweek
2) I took the new files and named them thisweek
I managed to start the servers ok .. but the new mission would not run properly. Error file indicated that it could not find mission and went for default. I suggest we have a good default mis loaded. Saipan is what it kept trying to load as default and that was not working right either, probably due to fbd code missing?
The new mis was hosted on Bolters home machine.
This is getting rather embarrassing that each week, no matter the circumstance, we are late with launch, seem to be disorganized and don't know what we are doing. This in turn is really hurting the outcome of the attendance the following week (and reputation).
We just do not need FBD Stats for SNATF at this time. We do need FBD coding that works the event, That seems to be a good feature. The event should start on 9:20 like clock work.. regardless of pilot and team readiness. If staff and host arrive at 830PM and pilots arrive at 9PM as scheduled .. this can work. If they are late .. then they are late. ALL pilots should be required to read the mission briefs in advance, but they don't .. so a penalty must be arrived at.
What I suggest is that ToW have a couple of cooked up mission ready to go. If we do not receive the "new" or weekly mission from Bolter as per scheduled agreements, then we will load up the ToW default mission and that will be what is used for Sat Eve. Any mission we do receive late will go in the hopper for future use.
I did a quick survey of the pilots attending and asked if the bi-plan mission was liked by all .. and I got an affirmative. This bring up two thoughts, one you are aware of because you read my mind, the other is to use this mission and the first default mission that I speak of.
Bolter: We must have the mission in advance to test them. We have NO follow up time when we receive the mission last minute, we have no way to check what is wrong and take corrective steps. Real Life will always come and up .. for anyone in this loop, therefor the program must allow for that and have backups. We all have problems at times, I think that goes without saying more..
Gents .. do we need to take a month off .. get some mission in the hopper? Do we need a month to test all this and get the program really working?
Bolter, if you can't make it by 830PM each Sat Night then I suggest we change the Day and or Hour where you can attend at the scheduled time.
I mean to be suggestive, supportive and helpful here .. not be spanking or embarrassing anyone. .. but its getting to be a habit of being a dis-organized and trouble ridden event. This must be corrected.
Also, we must spend this week getting one of our registered squadrons server up and running. It is a priority or its going to become an issue that Tides does not want to have happen. Our clubs are important to us and we have put them on the back burner for a long time .. we can't put them off any longer.
We can do this.

I agree with everything you have said TBar.
I suspect the mission did not have any FBD Coding at all which is why it failed.
I will seto up a default FBD text that just needs ot be added to the mission to work. If adjusted silighty (and I will highlight where) it can be tailored for each mission.
Bolter, see this thread and you will understand.

I will create a new thread in this forum in a similar vain to suit. You MUST remeber to REMOVE ALL THE END OF LINE CHARACTERS. That is essential.

FBD coding is placing issues which need not be a concern if we simply discarded the use therof. Aside from automatically controlling map start and end times what benefit is it? Actually having the maps start and end on a clock this way is not the way SNATF started nor is it beneficial. As soon as the objective is complete the map ends which is highly unrealsitic since all of the pilots choose to return to their bases in the fashion of real life pilots.
Despite the lower attendance this last SNATF, it ran smoothly because the session was manually controlled. I believe the simplest was is to test a mission beforehand of course and then simply load it and fly it as written. Yes I need to get them earlier, and I have signed up some help in this. You guys have been a real help and I feel guilty in burdening you with all the details.

Understood and the standard FBD code does not have mission end criteria - unless 50 aircraft are downed etc! It does bring some key advantages like overall timings and stats that may be useful to debrief etc.
I see your point though.

Maybe too much at one time ..
We should take out FBD and keep this simply and something Bolter is really comfortable with. In addition we can use that same server during the week for some type of popular merged setup for special events.
What that said .. I feel very badly because Gosling has worked really hard on this FBD setup. It has great features and when all set up properly works great. It's almost like saying we don't appreciate all that work .. but we do.. we really do.
I'm thinking that maybe 'baby steps' at first .. normal setup that Bolter is already in tune with. Then as we progress and build confidence we install the next step.
I still don't really see the need for stats. If any of these weekly events were tied to some type of campaign where the sides were always the same pilots then maybe stats would mean something. As it is now, I don't think anyone even knows they exist, etc, or probably See's no benefit in same.
My thoughts .. and I"m somewhat ignorant of all this so correct me if I"m wrong and present something that will work.
We start the server up on Fri eve or Sat am Wash DC time. Install the mission and let it fly. When Snatf times comes up, Bolter logs in, restarts the current mission .. and away they go. Can a password be assigned from the consol so that players must know the pw to join the surver? After which, can the pw be removed via the console so the server can be left running until sometime Sunday when ToW Staff can take it off line??
Lets chat in TS about this Gos at next opportunity.
I'm sure we can do this .. get on track .. and make SNATF what we all hope it can be.
For myself, I"m just tired of being embarassed each week as part of the team responsible for SNATF Event..
Tbar
PS: I feel useless as tits on a boar hog at times, I wish I could be of more 'real' help... I would if I knew how.

A password can be set. But I dont think it can be adjusted once it is said without taking the server down.
I fully understand the above and I am not that disappointed.
As to the event server we could run a standard mission during the week and then an event at the weekend. That can be done using the FBD commands to cycle the standard mission and intereupt it for the event at weekends
FBD does have the ability to define players to sides, so we could have a Squadron sign up type of thing. Key to that is having very even maps as there will be no swaping over for the second half.
