Superb if they could.  PT boats could be particularly vulnerable if caught from the side by a vicious wave.....

Two further question on the physics model...
I was studying the map table in the bridge of Bagheera when the helm for some unknown reason rammed one of my DE's.  I rammed the back 1/3 of the DE who was heading approx +30 to my course.

I would have expected to 'push' the stern of the DE around and for her to slide across my bow' date=' rather we both suddenly stopped at 0 knots.  (I was travelling at +20 knots).

Secondly (and you may have already answered this with the capsize question) there doesn't appear to be much 'wave' effect on the movement (vs motion) in the current physics model. 

By this I mean sometimes it's possible to get boats to 'surf' and use the wave for extra speed (being pushed along from underneath the aft stern and then as the wave overtakes there's a weird sinking feeling before the next wave catches - this may well be different with the really big boats as the biggest I've sailed is only 38' but in the middle of the sea there are some big big waves), I know I'm asking a lot but will this be possible in the new physics model?  It was one of the first things I noticed about the ships' interaction with the water - but you soon forget it as you get involved with the visuals.

The ship collision handling is not very good and is slated for replacement asap.  The "surfing" effect we have already observed with the new physics and really changes the nature of the game...uphill against the wind while in battle will be especially tense.

You'll be asking him to take into account phases of the moon next.

Just thought i share the most enjoyable and amazing moment so far - i killed a Sub with a sub.  On the Imperial sub mission (3??) where you have to inspect the Samuel Wren and the LFN try to sink her with their sub - the LFN missed the target with a salvo of 6 Torps (Cpt. was probably drunk) so i just sat next the SS Wren until the sub ran out of air - it appeared 75m in front of me Broadside on, so it got dispatched with the usual German Effiecency (i'm english!). Although i gather that the sinking is scripted because all the news flashs and orders after the mission where still referring to the sinking of the SS Samuel Wren - she was still floating when i left her!!

I'm sure many of you have sunk subs with subs - but i thought it would be nearly impossible using the surface skimming torpedo technology of the late 1930's

Sounds like a classic E:RT experience.
ATM for underwater sub to sub work you have to cheat a bit and use the exterior F5 camera to line up your shot. You have to be just lower than your target a almost touching then let rip and pray.

I believe the patch that is due out shortly will include an ability to set a torpedoes running depth.

There is also a threat that the exterior camera will be removed when underwater to make sub hunters rely on sonar.

Please Mr East dont take away our sub camera. It is so much fun and if you could disable the fire commands while in F5 then people would have to dive back to the main screen to fire giving a nice delay where a player sub would be manuveuring in. I know in multi-player and I detect someone hunting me I will be jinking and bobbing like I was in a spin cycle.

Wonder if ships (and subs!) will have active sonar in MP that we can turn on or off. Surface ships that run constantly active would allow their convoy to be detected at greater ranges. It could also be used as a "here kitty kitty kitty" to lure subs to a HK group if people get used to chasing sonar!

Torgen, as far as I understand the ships use ASDIC only at FULL or FLANK with hydrophones disabled - guess they're no use with all that cavitation noise.
To be able to turn the ASDIC on manually would add another dimension...

I presume the subs can easily 'plot' active ASDIC bearing down on them.
