Stepping Down

Hello everyone,

With a bit of sadness but mostly relief in my heart i'm making this post to inform you that i will be stepping down as GM of Death Angels. The reasons are plentyfull but most important is that DA isn't the guild i should be leading anymore.

In the past few months i've seen DA slowly turn into something i don't agree with. I've tried to fight it a few times here on these forums but that doesn't work that way. I can't change what people want or do with a few posts. The elitism that's grown into the general attitude of the guild isn't what i want. The lack of respect towards other people, the suspicion towards other people. It's all not what i want and certainly not what DA used to be.

Over the past few weeks i've been thinking alot about what to do and it's even depressed me quite alot lately. There's still people in DA i respect alot and for them i would want to continue. But i'm tired of fighting the things i don't want. I feel the time and energy i put into it is wasted anyway, so i'll be better of putting energy into things for myself.

Lately i only seem to disagree with alot of people and thats not a healthy situation for a GM, so thats why i'm stepping down.

I have no idea what i'll be doing, no idea if i will stay in DA or not, but i will make a descision about that when time comes. For the moment i just want some peace and quietness. I will not be raiding with tribes for the moment. I'll just be on my own for a while.

So you need to get someone else to be GM now. Please discuss it and post the one you want in this topic or tell me ingame, so i can make him/her GM. Don't wait too long with that please, because otherwise i'll be forced to make someone GM and i don't want to do that.

/hugs and take care

I am sorry you feel like this :S I can understand a lot of what u mean and where u are unhappy - I know I've said a few things u disagree with strongly.

I do miss a lot of th 'old' guild stuff - more friendly, more helpful, more willing to share and going out of ur way to help sum1 else when there is nothing in it for urself - it's still there but less and less every day and a dwindling handful of ppl imho

I think some recent things have made us more paranoid n less willing to trust - a combination of long-time guildies up n leaving for 'better pastures' and some new raid-ppl who come, get goodies then vanish again..so we are mebbe a bit too insular and too quick to judge now - which is wrong :S

I know you hate all the 'omg he/she is in all green crap' stuff that gets said - but I cannot go back on this - I do not believe that MC/ZG is ever the right place to learn the basics of raiding and start upgrading - and I don't think that is 'snobby' or 'elitist' - I just know I couldn't do it myself or feel I was being 'carried'

I don't want you to step down at all Wig - I cannot think of anyone fitting to take over the role - mebbe Merken/Deadthing - but I wish we could all get together and talk some of this over - maybe have an officers meeting at the very minimum and try and wade thru some of this stuff and see if there is something we can do?

I am sorry you felt you had to do this - and even sorrier that you couldn't talk to us first -

/hugs and hope wig

Well, i'll admit, I didn't see that one comming 😵

I think one thing you are forgetting man, is that GM is not just a tag, but a TITLE. Basically, if you tell these people with crappy attitudes to straighten up, they will do it. and if they dont, then they get demoted or ultimatly banned. only you can change the guild from what you dont like to what you like...

Rotten/brat/Horrible left, and made you GM. I don't think he did that becuase you're related. I think he saw that you could lead the guild, though sometimes unsure of yourself, to a better standard of being. He saw leadership in the way you acted in the guild, and I and everyone esle did too.

But if you DO step down, I would nominate Lostsoul becuase of his generousity and activeness.

But... DON'T DO IT GODDAMNIT!

Hi Mate

I am very sad see that you made your choice final to step down as GM Wig. I agree with Tiz that you are pretty much cut out for the job as a GM. For only 1 month ago I thought you where one of the biggest diplomats on this server, It was nice to see you handle problems and disagreements that was occurring from time to time. When ever players had problems with each other, an issue regarding what is wrong or right or just some lame chat trashtalking, you seems to always know when to step in and what to say.

When that it said it?s also easy to see that your haven?t been the happiest GM the last two month or so.

I think the guild over the last 2-3 month has been divided into 2 maybe 3 groups?first one is the low lvl?s or new lvl 60 players group(that?s the guild that I started in for about 7 month ago and like very very much) They help each others and trying to make the game as fun as possibly, It seems that is the group you wanna protect. Problem with this group is that is not that big anymore. We don?t get many newcomers low lvl?s anymore. Take just a regular day it is impossible to get a guild group to a lower lvl instance(BRD down).

2. group is all the oldtimers and more experienced high lvl players that have come to that conclusions that the ?only? thing that makes the game fun and challenging is raid new instances with g-mates and maybe get some god loot to upgrade your gear. Sure we can do fun low lvl instance run or quests but I don?t think that?s what get the people hanging on to wow.

3. group is the pvp playing people or the ones living under the roof of the guild but playing with someone else.

I myself have been thinking about joining another guild for the last month or so?for me the game needs to be fun and challenging at the same time Its important to me that we evolve as a guild and take new steps every now and then. Best game for me is when we try on a new boss or instance.

But I?m sad to say that I?m not leaving this guild?I like this guild a great deal and the people in it and I am not going to trade that. I like the fact that a lot of the members are older(like myself) or/and more mature than most of the wow players on TH(not you Rua :P ).

I think many of things going on atm in the guild is healthy for us to go on as a big guild. We need to have different goals and different opinions? We do not just wanna be a raid guild or a beginners guild?WE WANNA DO IT ALL :P

Hope you are sure about your choice mate

Well bugger me backwards.....I knew it had been a bit touchy on the Forums BUT no one should have to feel like this. I for one am concerned at certain things, Greens in Raids etc and People quitting raids or parties half way through but that should not make your position tougher. We have officers that are there to help people out and take the pressure of you. I for one and i am sure i speak for Tizz, lost and the other officers feel that you should take a DA break and let us get together and put some fixes in place. We all started in this guild to be Helpful, Friendly, Generous etc., Lets get it back and make DA a truly great guild Once again....

Mate, for ure leadership qualities i would follow u where ever. Just give yourself and us a verbal Slapping and we will fix this

LOVE YA WIGGY.....Now get it on and lets raid WC's like the old days

I don't really have any idea how to react to this, except that i am sad that you don't want to be GM anymore, that you don't like the way DA is, or that you might even leave DA.

I pretty much agree with bate about guild being divided to different groups and that the helpfull 'family feeling' has diminished. I guess i am one of the elitists atm (at least thats what i've been called at forum), even though i like helping others (and i help people quite often i think). Then again i can't be sorry for wanting to progress and do new things in wow. The 5 man instances tend to get pretty boring after Nth time, especially with out even a slight chance of improving my character. If the 5 mans are all there is to wow, i might then just as well quit.

How ever my opinions about tribes raids are just my opinions. Not something that you or DA in general have to agree with. Freedom express ones opinions/feelings has been one of the things in DA that i have liked the most. I really didnt want to become an officer and I will most happily step down from that position as my comments/posts on forum have at least partially been part of the DA you dont like.

I guess there aren't any easy solutions for this division of the guild. One might be that those who want a more 'progressive'/effective/disciplined raid group seek one outside DA/tribes (with out leaving guild), and keep DA as friendly and family like as possible and keep the tribes raids as open as they have been (with or with out DKP system).

My summer holiday starts on thu 15th on june and i'll be gone from wow for minimum of 3 weeks (and maybe as long as 6 weeks). I have really liked DA. There probably isn't a nicer and more helpfull bunch of people and i am glad that i have met you all. I hope that you are all still here and in DA when i return Image
