Of course the problem with having the Gold edition of the game is that I have just got to play through all those LFN campaign missions again to get my mitts on the battlecruisers. I have just reached mission 6 again and I reckon they have made it harder. In the old edition you had plenty of time before the enemy destroyers came on the scene to pump you full of shells. To my mind they seem to appear even faster now so my old tactic of sitting by the last submerged milchcow with the engines off and a fish in the tube ready for when she surfaces won't work. Guess I am going to have to break out the microphone again to use voice command as I can never get all 3 with manual control of the rudder.

That sub LFN 6 , I just don't play now ! Juggled the mission logs when I had to replay all of them !
.
As for SURFACE LFN 6 , well ....
I used to be able to destroy everything !
Now , not once managed to WIN this campaign mision .
Even sinking the two DDs takes a lot more torpedoes , and one of the fools in the ally subs who ' assist ' , succeeds on being gunned within minutes , by charging along on surface most times ! Same mission juggling sorted that too .!

Took me a rather embarrasing 15, yes fifteen
attempts to get past that one this time around. I never want to see that mission again
Hear, bloody, hear!
I've been trying a new strategy for FUN with this one .
The aim is to first sink both those DEs !
Only when one has the rank to control the allies .
I quickly set both other PTs to attack other ( fifth )sub ( often to the west ), and head towards it myself.
( This occupies the other PTs until the Raiko and two enemy are within range of each other )
The Raiko I set onto a DE.
Then I try to bring the other PTs to attack the enemy DEs when the raiko is exchanging fire with them .
I've managed to have both sunk , and the fifth sub too , but didn't survive myself -
The idea is - then the Raiko will depth charge the four , or remaining milchcows .
The Raiko did depthcharge one or two , on its way towards the enemy DEs , a few times .
So all that remained when I was sunk , was Tthe Raiko and two milchcows .
I think it must be possible this way .
The enemy DEs don't fire much at you whilst the Raiko is within range .
You get a good chance to sink them .
The ' normal ' way , is less difficult by using a lot of external view - and using PAUSE - and taking a good look around for the next surfacing milchcow's location .

of course a much simpler way i have found is to simply wait until the first sub comes up and sink it with a torpedo before turning hard left and sinking that one then hard right and sinking the next and then try and get the last remaining one.if not then assign the reiko to sink it and send the pt boats to harry the De's which gives the raiko some breathing space to operate.Loads of different ways to do this mission i suppose but i have to admit that though it seems hard for a lot of folk i play it from the bridge and have found it to be a lot of fun
Well the problem is, you really need a direct interface with your ship for these crazy manueverablity MTBs. With voice chat it is insanly hard to line up a ship because it takes afew seconds to actually say what you want and for the system to respond (assuming the system does recognize what you said) by that time you've already turned too far or driven by the target. Combine with the fact that the Subs sit so low in the water that you can't see them when they are in front of you (cause MTBs like to lean back like a motor boat). Also the angled firing tubes on the british MTB are HORRID no other word for it. I love the american straight firing ones where you just line up where you wanna shoot and let lose. While the angled ones on the british ship leave you guessing. Be nice if the subs stayed up for more then 20 seconds too. You'd figure since they shoot at you they'd hafta be up atleast 40 + however long they shoot at you for the rig for surface and rig for dive, but it seems more like a total of 20 seconds where they shoot at you for 10.
The secret to operating the MTB is to avoid trying to use the normal steering controls.
Now if youre not allowed to use voice commmands or click on the rudder control, or use the keyboard.. what would you do?
Think of a way and you'll get the point.

Waypoints but I've tried those to very limited succuess (had more luck with the keyboard). The reason being that the torpedos fire at like a 17 or 18 degree angle off the sides of your boat. With the american version you can just click the red dot wait a sec for the boat to line up and shove a fish down their throat but with british you have to guess where you should face to get the correct angle off your bow to land the fish. American MTB also comes with acouple depth charges perfect for that one that went under before you could get a fish in it.
