Voice Commands!

I've been using Dragon NaturallySpeaking for voice recognition for years. It works fine with Enigma once the other one is turned off.

Dragon has a featuer that might be in the Enigma voice application that comes with the game but, if not, some may want to consider using Dragon for Enigma and other games with voice controls.

I created a user in Dragon (called Enigma) and created that user up with no dictionary and, during the setup would not let Dragon scan my system for writing style.

Next, in "edit words", I created a dictionary from scratch, with only the words and phrases that are actually used in the game (there appear to be 81).

I typed all 81, one after the other, into the empty user dictionary then went back and voice trained every word and phrase. All this took about an hour.

My "Enigma" user in Dragon makes fewer errors and responds faster because the dictionary is tiny. When its time to use Dragon for dictation, or another game, I boot up a different user with the appropriate dictionary.

Here is the dictionary that appears to allow me to generate any voice command that can be used in the game.

So what did i miss?

Dragon comes in several flavors at different price points. The voice recognition engine is identical in all of them. I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking Standard Addition Version 8 which should be available for under $100 including a dictation headset.

I would be nice if "pause" were added to the commands, or perhaps i over looked it.

Manowar,

Thanks for responding. I'll add the engage... commands.

In the list of commands there are two spellings of the same term, deck gun and deckgun. Which one is correct or are both correct? My Dragon dictionary needs the correct spelling.

I've been a fan of voice recognition for dictation for years. I'm brand new to Enigma so please excuse me if i raise an issue that's already covered.

Would it be practical to have a text box, in the action, where the AI displays what it heard the player say, as well as display it's spoken response?

Then, when the AI gets it wrong the player could make a correction. (Dragon is allowed to learn from corrections in dictation mode.) Or, when the AI is unsure of the command, it might say "Captian, did you say?" Then the player is alerted to the uncertainty and responds with yes (afirmative), or no (negative) .

Please excuse me for bringing these things up if they have already been considered.

Thanks again for your assistance.

Charlie

"deckgun" or "deck gun" doesnt matter you can use both,

the engine also responds to "deckguns"

the engine is designed to understand various way of speech, and minor breaks in he text aswell.

As far as I recall there is both text and speech reply from the crew.

Usually when the engine is unsure of what you said it doesnt take any actions, however some words and sounds may trigger a wrong command, I think it would be too much recoding of the engine to add that "Captian, did you say?" thing.
