Realism

I was wondering how realistic can I make my assumptions for sub tactics? For example, factoring in baffles into detection ranges of myself and surface ships.

not quite that realistic. Primarily it is speed (noise) and depth as a submarine. We don't penalize for re-loading while trying to run silent. Things like being "invisible" during the period after depth charges go off is based on reality and should be used.
