What I mean is that if you watch the ?screws? on the American sub ? starboard side, they will turn clockwise for forward motion and counter-clockwise while moving backwards.
This is correct for the way the prop is designed.
However, if you look at the German & LFN boats (starboard side) the screws turn counter-clockwise for forward and clockwise for reverse.
This is just a nit-picky issue but just thought I?d bring it to your attention.
It took awhile before I realized this was happening and I may actually need glasses now.

Interesting because...
Because I just looked at blueprints of a REAL German Type VII-B submarine, and there are two screws installed on the boat, they are rotating in opposite directions to maintain the U-boat heading and balance...
The one on Starboard on the print DOES have to turn counter-clockwise for the sub to go forward.
And if I look at the plans I have for SINGLE screw U-boats (mostly pre-WWII ones), their screws do also rotate counter-clockwise to go forward.
Which makes sense for single-screw boats, because of the Coriolis force on the northern hemisphere. Try it: put water in a sink at home and then pull the plug, the water will drain forming a vortex always turning clockwise because of the motion of the earth, so the best way to make a ship screw counteract this force is to have it turn counter-clockwise, in the most often used mode (which is going forwards). If your submarine is mostly operating in southern latitudes this is not true, though (the Coriolis effect is the opposite of the one in the North, so counter-clockwise).
I do not have the same plans for american or japanese submarines, so can't give you any information on those.
