Mission Eisenegen Never Ends

THis is the one where you play the german destroyer escort and are attacking supposedly helpless american PT boats - so I get past the numerous torpedoes, taking a couple which slows me down. The PT boats go on thier regular patrol and I purse them - i get a couple but because of the speed difference, the rest disappear?????

I can't see them on the radar, I steam helplessly around looking for them and they are nowhere to be found - with no time compression, it is not an option to search all corners, it takes forever.

THis has happened 3 times - what gives? How do I beat this damn level.

The chance of a few escaping to distance was increased , when the number increased to eight from six , but they are still there , the small tactical usually shows the sector in red .

Does require patience .

Need to count how many are remaining .

If you can click on one that is heading for the perimeter before it ( temporarily ) disappears , and say ' engage target ' , then you know the direction and distance, by repeating that at times .

Can be done , yes , but just a bit too long sometimes.

No luck guys - I steam towards the red rings - they dissapear after a while and I'm left with a patch of ocean that I shell to take my frustration out.

THe boats are doing a circle patrol or a box, not too sure of the shape but they should be patrolling within a set distance.

I am giving up - I'm going to take my frustrations out on some other game for a while before launching a different campaign.

Hi East,

I tried that. Except that i feel that by the time I get there, the PT boats are elsewhere.

I did exactly what you said - and still no luck. I would think that after the rings dissapear (which indicate that there is a radar contact beyond the visible range of the radar)., if you zoom out, the contacts should then appear on the radar. However, this doesn't seem to be the case. I never see the dots - only the rings and then when I steam towards them, they dissapear.

Maybe you can educate me on the whole radar thing - maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Just a note though - this part is definitely frustrating and not fun - but seeing the shots of the Hood make me want to continue.

Thanks

It's not radar for one. The red bars are there to help you find escaped prey. Once you are within range, it's up to you to find them. This can be a pain with the little guys since you can't detect them very well because of their size.

The better plan is to kill them before they escape

Not so hard:

after they finish their initial attack-run and start to fall back, be sure to mark one them by a left-klick on it?s radar signature. (dont sink that one )

The boats now return to their patrol points - 4 on one and the other 4 on the second point. (only those which are still alife ofcourse).

Your "marked" boat, even if no longer visual, still gives away it?s position - whenever you klick on the "attack" button its data are renewed, including its exact coordinates.

Just set your course to reach the coordinates (moving the mouse around the large radarscreen gives you the coordinates of the mousepointer and allows you to guess in which direction to go to find the marked PT).

After sinking the PT or PT?s at point 1 you have to find the boats on point 2. Thats harder cause you cant use the marker now. But both points are on the same longitude so you just have to watch your little radarscreen for the red "distant-contact" signal to tell you to go east or west. Make sure you strictly stick to course 90? / 270? because it takes a while till you reach point 2.

After a total of 8 boats has been sunk - you win.

P.S.:

One point should be somewhere around 17.14.52N and 74.36.00W - iirc. (played it some days ago.)
