Enigma

In 1943, the German military changed their coding on their Enigma machine, and thereby, shut out the evesdropping at Bletchley Park; home to the British codebreakers. Tom Jerico, a mathematician at Cambridge, is recovering from his girlfriends affair when he is recalled to help the codebreakers "get back in".

Jerico stumbles across a kink in the staticical nightmare that faces him, as he attempts to unravel the personal mystery surrounding his beloved. Assisted by one of the brightest women in the park, Jerico discovers that the link between his personal disaster and the world at war lies on the personal agenda of one of the codebreakers.

The book was later made into a film which to it's credit, had Kate Winslett, and although the film was somewhat disjointed, it painted a far evil picture of the episode than that given by Harris.
