Story Advancement On The Battlefield

It's the one disappointment I've got with the game as it stands- all this fun backstory between missions, and then they drop you into the random-generated play area with all of three lines in the message window for in-combat story advancement.

Now, I'm not necessarily suggesting an obscene amount of scripting, or crappy cutscenes that play whenever a ship shows up on the battlefield, and I realize this game will eventually evolve into a MMO-sim-boat-thing, where people make their own stories...

Still, I'd think I'm not alone in kinda craving a little more feedback and cinematic flair on the battlefield than just what I get from hitting F5. New objectives midmission, identifiable characters (even if it's just a line of text from another ship that pops up in the message window relayed by your "signals officer"), a mission-intro flyby of your ship and fleet underway, anything. Please. It's a great game, and while I'm not suggesting an in-engine cutscene for every ingame action, I think things like the demise of the battleship in KLM Surface 10-A were important enough that they really would've been worth showing to the player without hoping they just happen to be looking in the right direction.

Just a thought, probably one that casually demands tons of work and is unfeasable to implement, but it is something I would appreciate seeing.
