Super Information Gathering

Anyone think that the radar screen gives way too much info to fast, for example the type of ship even though it is still far away. Granted you can classify ship types by the sound the propeller makes and its speed but it is way too fast. There is no element of suprise here
intelligence goes far beyond what the captain sees. when the captain spots a ship he knows what it is based on information gathered by other captains, and even from captured ships.  every ship in every fleet will have distinct characteristics. so even if its just within view, you'd still be able to tell its classification.
The problem is not within view, its when the ship is far away but is quickly classified by the radar
It isn't radar - it's a tactical display which collates all the available data:  radio reports, visual sightings, last known position-heading-bearing, hydrophones, asdic, etc.
And yes, it does give information too early.  The data isn't tied into the visibility rules....I think it just got by us.
hopefully it will be fixed There's no better sight than seeing a sub mistaking a destroyer with transport :)
