1.6 patch

#1
well, I was going to update to 1.6....

I have the patch file on the server.. when I run it..

I get the following error..

Windows cannot open this program because the license enforcement system has been tampered with or become corrupted.

I searched out solutions on the net.. seems this happens..

I have done nothing since.. maybe someone else wants to carry this on...

I find these kind of comments on the net:

quote:

...I found a goodly number of people that have experienced this with a few other installers, but none of the fixes are certain, and I've tried them all including a few of my own from turning DEP off to running in Safe mode.

At this point all I can think of is there is some kind of compatibility flag with NSIS that has been over looked, or Server 2003 has some kind of weird bug/issue with very large single file installers, or it's flaky DRM system is acting up... This last seems more likely as I've just tried to install PRM and got the same error message.

then this, is suppose to be one solution..But...I dunno..and wont mess with this part while others have games runing.

To fix:

1. Click Start -> Control Panel

2. Open Administrative Tools

3. Open Local Security Settings

4. Click Software Restriction Policies

a. If no software restrictions are defined, right click the Software Restriction Policies node and select New Software Restriction Policy

5. Double click Enforcement

6. Select "All users except local administrators"

7. Click OK

8. Reboot the machine

Hmmm where has david been..looks like he could be needed here...;)
