Hey Image

After our last run Tuesday I experienced some trouble with my graphics card ,screen flickers and black outs.Yesterday I tried to fix with an update but it did not improve , actualy it has become worse.Screen flickers and blacks out during start up.

So it looks like a hardware problem ,and with my supermarket laptop I am looking at 4 weeks repair time.....

So tonight I can't be at the Malygos run.....,will probably be trying to get a investment proposal (new laptop) past the financial comitee (my wife).... :P

I was not signed for the friday run but hope to be up and running with a new laptop by saturday.

Here is my choice (comments welcome) :

Acer laptop

Its the only quadcore they have in stock

Have been getting the same issues, plus the pc shut's down now and then without any reason. Been lucky that it hasn't happened during raids, but the pc is 6 years old now so it's time for it to retire. On Tuesday I had to run wpw on the wifes laptop. Not the best laptop so I got this passed the financial comitee today.

Intel Core™ 2 Quad Q9550

Corsair TWIN2X 6400C4DHX DDR2 4096MB

2x 337501 Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1TB SATA2

XFX GeForce GTX260 576M 896MB C-216 FC2

Asus.P5Q PRO, P45, S-775, DDR2, PCI-E

LG Blu-Ray burner GGW-H20L

Antec Nine Hundred

Hopefully that will improve my issues. Need a stationary pc, hate laptops for some reason. Could be because they remind me about work too much.

Will you run with 64-bit or 32-bit Koren ?

Grats on that ,did it cost a lot of bonuspoints (with the wife) ? ,if it did you might not get to play on it that much ,working off the defecit ,he,he

Still a couple of bugs to work out in the 64 bit for me to step into that worrieless...

32 bit worked great see no reason to switch to (possible) errors I want to get away from with a new laptop.

Ouch. Always bad when the ?ld computer goes down. But regarding your future purchase - im no expert in dutch, but as far as i can tell it has a shared graphic card, which always makes me skip to the next possible candidate. Might be one of the more easily upgradable items, but couln't tell since in foreign strange language.

Hope it works out for you and past the financial comitee Image.

@ shaldor: Need that machine. Period.

Normally for gaming a core 2 duo (or extreme) is valued better than a core 2 quad.: http://www.techreport.com/articles.x/14756/1

Allthough if you multitask a lot (i.e. use your computer for stuff other than gaming) a core 2 quad is a good investment.

Alienware is always nice for gaming: http://www.alienware.com/products/M17-note...ode=SKU-DEFAULT

Alternative for the acer:

(Asus Gaming Rig)

(Another Asus)

(Toshiba)

(Asus which comes closest to the selected acer)

my 2 cts.
