We have a new website in the works...

We have a new website in the works... and I approve

What the Web Team needs is approval to move ahead on re-vamping this site. Its intended to use a content management system .. so far what I've seen of the new site is excellent.

Here is a "mock up" ... its not the real site.. but its there so you can view and give the "go ahead" before any more work is done.

The colors .. will be the same as the current site once done.

The look and feel will be the same.

I'm not sure if we can keep everything in the 'same place' but we won't loose anything we are used to.

No more work will be done to this site until the team gets BoD approval to "move forward". What say ye all?

I had a chance to take a look at a similar version to this one. I like this one much much better. As far as this new one from the current site we now have I thin the new one in much more streamlined and I really like the transparent cover over the back ground.

The only thing that I would personally change would be the link button color to some thing contrasting like a dark crimson red. I think that would make a really nice contrast and make the page jump out at you.

Otherwise I like it!

Don't address the current colors etc .. just the layout and look.

The colors, look and feel will be USAAC we have come accustomed to.

Very nice layout and user friendly.

I would assume it would have it's own cyberspace, correct me if I'm wrong.

I dont think I have an 'official vote" any longer.

But I would like to say it looks great so far. I like the Idea of having more simplicity.

Especially if it can be detacched somehow from the ToW site.

Not to say the ToW site is not a good place for a home just that logging in, re-loggong in and navigating many times is sometimes too many clicks once you get away from the usaac side of things.

I really do not see a problem with keeping everything on the ToW site. For one, It cost us nothing. Second, it function properly nearly 99% of the time. Third, if it were not for ToW and specifically Tbar, we wouldn't have what we have now, which is a pretty darned good sight compared to most others I have seen. Oh and did I mention it costs us nothing.

So as far as ToW hosting the sight, I'm all for it.

Good Grief people lets get over the petty differences once and for all.

There was discussion of the same ideas before Tbar started the ball rolling. Tbar just got his idea in motion before any of the more lazy, busy with other projects and unskilled idea holders got their idea of a home to the community. And wasnt it Tbar who canvassed the community for support for the idea before it was implemented? So that therefore makes the US site a tool of the people not a tool of the people involved in the work. The way I see it is we are here to serve the community not for the community to serve us. Therefore if it is in a better interest for the community the the idea of a new home should absolutely be discussed.

Big Salute to Tbar and Tow for putting in all the hours of hard work, programming, coordination and stress that is involved with a project like this. Sometimes it is a thankless task like most other positions in AA are as well. However that does not constitute in my opinion a good reason to "not discuss" new server options if there are changes coming. All options should be discussed and put on the table. Just the same as Korean Air Attack had a home for us as well in the past we moved on to a "better idea" of a US home maybe now is the time to discuss different ideas.

And what are the petty differences that seem to warrant a statement like "Good Grief people lets get over the petty differences once and for all." I see no static here in this thread that would indicate any petty differences. You seeing something that we are not? Maybe the idea of moving the site to a new home is this "petty difference" you speak of ???? if so, the idea of a discussion of such is not a petty difference in my view.
