First of all before I start talking about this year that we have just started I would like to say a few things about last year. Last year was the year the Tides Of War Black Sheep Squadron was set up and a group of poor flying pilots(with exceptions of a few) met up and started flying under the same tag ToW_[name]. To start with the squad was just being set up so their wasn?t many members at all and if you were ever flying AA you could be flying for 6 or so hours with out seeing another ToW BSS pilot and you would kind of feel belittled by all the other groups flying round with their matching tags or in teams room totally domination everyone else in the room. Every few minutes you would get someone pound you with questions like ?Who are ToW??, ?How long have they been running?? etc?
But now if you go into an arena you are likely to see another ToW pilot in the arena with you so you have someone you have something in common with and someone to fly with in teams, and instead of us being the individual pilots in teams getting beaten by a 2 or 3 pilots from some squad, we are now the 2 or 3 pilots from the same squad which are beating the numerous pilots who are in their without any squad members or support. Also now people are not asking who the ToW squadron are they know and are making compliments about our flying skill, and how we have appeared out of no where and still manage to enter the 4 squad league and not be bottom of the matches and not be the squad in the league that just get pushed other and targeted for the easy kills. I know we are not going to win the 4 squad league or it is very unlikely we will finish any higher then bottom place although I am hoping to prove mine and many other people?s first predictions wrong.
As for pilot skill well we all have come along way and we are all still getting better, for some of us we joined ToW BSS when we first started playing Air Attack and we have learnt absolutely everything form being a member of the squad. A few of the members have been playing Air Attack for years and have become a member of the squad because they saw what an opportunity it was to get in with a great bunch of guys and still have all the benefits of joining any other squad out there.
Now to some up all that in a few words, we all have come a great way from before we joined the squad and we are all still getting better and better, the main thing is we are all getting better together and helping each other.
Now for this year, this is going to be the first full year for the ToW BSS and its started off as a good one, we have all helped to make the squad noticeable to the Air Attack community now lets get ourselves so we are up their with all the other top squads. The only difference once we achieve this target is that all the members will have been with the squadron since the beginning and we will all have contributed to the hard work that has gone into this squad. We are part of the way through the 4 squad already so lets continue trying our hardest to keep ourselves out of that bottom slot on the leaders board and show everyone just how well we are doing and how far we have come for a newly set-up squad.
As a target for myself as the GB/Europe XO I am going to try to set a scheduled training session for all pilots who can attend, but aimed at the GB/Europe pilots time zone. My goal is to keep this running all year and for the training to be fun at the same time as learning. These training sessions will be held and taught by me but if anyone has anything to share during the session I will step down and allow someone else to take the session. I am also going to work on getting some well respected people in the Air Attack community from outside the squad to come into these training sessions and teach us all the ways in which to fly and which not to fly. The times for these training sessions will be in the forums with in the next few weeks but times may change if there is a need be to suit more people or if there is happenings at the times which the training sessions are held. The training sessions will probably start after the current round of 4 squad finishes.
So lets all look forward to a forward moving and progressive year for the ToW BSS.
:thx:I would like to say thank you to Tbar for setting up the squad and helping all the way to ensure the squad is running properly even when he has other things to do he still finds time to check up and fly with us.
