>;( Hi, I know that I don?t post here a lot but I just had to speak my peace. I was a big fan of this game since the beginning with the promise of multiplayer. Today I removed the game for good and have moved on too much better games silent hunter 3 and battle station midway. Both games are not released yet but soon. I have always been a multiplayer gamer and I feel ripped off by your game and tired of your promises .I will never buy from your company again, One more thing, both of the games I mention have free multiplayer I repeat free, and when I purchased your game I thought it was multiplayer and free, more lies. Thankyou for your time

I don't think any one could really blame you for being angry. I've never heard of a free MMOG though, and that's how multiplayer was described on my box. Of course yours may be differant.

I'd suggest at least visiting the forums every now and then, so when full multiplayer is released you can get your free month and see why people pay for MMOG games. There is a big differance between them and your general 32 player restricted map games.

I challenge you to find where on the packaging or marketing material it stated that multiplayer was included or it would be free when available. It certainly doesn't say any of that on my box.

I'm sympathetic with your complaint about MP not being available at all - whether for a fee or not. But your outright mistakes are yours alone.

Being an informed consumer will save you money from now on. Read before you buy.

I dont see why you can possibly feel "ripped off" you have got more for your $50 than you do with most games.

I understand your frustration about the missing MP and "broken promises",

They arent broken, just delayed and there are reasons for that.

The MP client has not yet been finished, reasons that are beyond Tesseraction Games control.

You can read several topics here about what is going on, among things are that the first publisher GMXMedia screwed TAG and didnt give them any money for all the sold copies of the original European version, a major set back for a small developer as TAG is. The lawsuit against GMX is dragging out as all other court cases does. more info around the forums.

As Old Yellow said, there isnt anything on the boxcover for the game that states that MP is included nor that it will be free or that it wont.

The MP client will be free download when it is complete, for players without the SP CD it will be a 800MB download and for those with the SP CD it will be about 100MB (it will probaly also be available via "CD on Demand").

Since bandwidth isnt free and TAG is a small studio and the fact that E:RT is not a multiplayer game, but a massive multiplayer game they need to generate income to cover the server costs, pay bills, develop more games etc, then they have to make it pay2play.

The monthly fee will be ~US $12.95/mo, a small fee to pay for hours of fun, when you want to play, not when others wants to, in a massive universe there is always more than a few people online to challenge.

TAG is also working on a day based ticket system that gives you 24hours of continiued game play for US $1, and you can buy as many tickets you want.

So far you have yet to see TAG break a promise, they for sure havent lied to you, me or any other player. All you managed to do here was to make other players upset with you.

I myself would be interested to know where you arrived at the concept that the multiplayer was free. I have three versions of the game, the original UK, the Australian and the USA version and I don't see any mention of that. It is hard to arrive at a conclusion about this as you give no indication in your post about which version you own, and your avatar location is undisclosed. I think the advice about consumer advocacy is well sounded.

Recognise too that in this part of the (internet) world, bad mouting the Tesseraction team puts you in the minority. Indeed, posting about their so called "lies" could in fact leave you open to criminal prosecution, you have only to look at the web blogging court case in the US Supreme Court to realise that "freedom of speach" is an individual's right, complete with accountability.

I have met the Tesseraction team, from the CEO right through all the staff. The one thing I did find impressive is their integrity. In all their business and personal dealings with me, they have as a corporate entity always be true to their word.

:|

just saw this post and felt i had to write something

i've been monitoring this forum for a while and i wonder why people feel the need to come on here and complain if they are going to drop the game and never come back

this is a brilliant game with so many possiblities for improving the gameplay once mp arrives

Dont understand why people are moaning about paying to use mp when as has been said all the other mmog are p2p...as the saying goes you gotta speculate to accumulate

if my support through mp payment goes any way to ensuring this game survives and improves then i am happy to part with ?10.00 a month for the pleasure it gives me

i understand you got a right to complain but you gotta ask yourself how many other game companies give you the ability to speak directly to the organ grinder?

i'm new to this having only owned the game for about a month but i see a good supportive community here and i'm staying for the long haul.....now if i can only get the voice control to fire torpedoes...... 😳😳

I have aright to express my feelings about this game on this forum as I paid for my game with the expectation of multiplayer coming soon. Maybe I am wrong about free multiplayer; I am sorry, I sure can?t check my box as I threw that out long ago. Two years later and still no multiplayer. I did not mean to upset anyone here and I am sorry if I did. You said we would have multiplayer and sill we do not. Oh yea, there is a free massive multiplayer game called guildwars. Well good luck with your company, I just lost my patience with this game and this company and I will not be buying any more games from you

Sure you have to the right to speak your mind, but you shouldnt do it when you dont have anything to back up your words on.

GuildWars might be free for you, but someone is paying for the traffic and the servers, you can be sure that it is not the developers, more likely they have sponsors and/or other deals to generate an income to keep the servers running, if not then the game wont survirve for long.

And yes 2 years the MP was on its way untill a lot of things happened, that set back the development, you would have known if you read some of the topics here.

(on a side note didnt Bush promise you that he would capture Bin Laden? well that was in 2001, (more than 2 years ago) did he break his promise or just havent lived up to it yet?) ;)

A few bits worth in reply;; :)

It IS delayed , ( as Jesper said . ) not a broken promise .

.

GMX is the cause mainly of that . ( Don't try playing their games at home ! )

.

Even as a single player game , I think it is more than worth it .

.

However , there is one point which is true , and that is the useof the word " Free" , and I well remember postings and discussions about that long ago .

I am too lazy at present to look them up and cite them , but there was discussion long ago , and explanation of what it meant .

However the mention of one free month madeit obvious that there was some payment afterwards .

Yet , the usage of the word " free " was a little unfortunate and Im sure it did not mean to be misleading .

I am surprised that others seem to have forgotten that indeed that word was used , and the discussion about it also .

I am all FOR one saying whatever they think , it provides an opportunity to reply or discuss .

Free speech should be an ABSOLUTE . There are deep , profound reasons for it .

When reading the word " free" one has to look carefully anyway , for example : many things are offered as "Free downloads " etc , - which actually mean a " Free trial " .

One has to look to see whether it is " Freeware " or shareware etc .

In other cases it is misleading and marketing ploys .

In this it isn't .

Ideally the word " free " should not have been used with Rising Tide at all , but it was made clear it wasn't free in that sense .

.

I think we all have reached another point of disappointment at prolonged delay .

I notice the recent postings have diminished .

Naturally , after waiting so long , but not the fault of TAG .

I dont feel bad about buying the game even if it never becomes multiplayer , but of course I feel just as much about wanting it to be !

It's natural there is frustration etc because of the long , long delay .

Someone even started a thread recently about " What you enjoy doing etc in USA " and mentioned that there was not much discussion so wanted to talk about something !

I don't mind the postings like the starter's , because it does at least give us the chance to say something , and make it clearer to newcomers that the delay is not without a reason , which was beyond TAG's control , ' force majeure' one might call it .

It is trying , waiting all this time , and most of us who have been here a couple of years have talked a lot about all the missions and what-not .

Only when newbies come along , do we have opportunity to say much ( again ) about them , and there is a growing membership , plus all those who might read and not post much . Most are still waiting hoping , and appreciate the game as it is .
