Thermal Compound

Hi guys

I kno this isn't a technical support question but its a technical thing so i thought i would put it in here anyway.

Im getting a new processor soon and need to get some thermal compound, any recomendations from the vast wealth of knowledge floating about these boards.

If anyone here has done the same and found a really good product (ease of application is a must here) then pop ur thoughts up!

Thanks

Steve :D

AMD or Intel CPU?

AMD has their cooling paste on the heatsink if its not green and intact on yours contact your reseller or AMD.

For Intel you can just buy a cheap minibag of paste and apply a super thin layer to the CPU (remember to clean the heatsink before attaching it to the CPU).

Can't say it will be the best. It will deffinately do the job up to Intel's expectations but i'm sure there would be a more expensive product that would work better.

If you want to keep your PC cooler i'd worry more about fans than compound. You could even get refridgeration nowadays but those are very high end computers that require that type of cooling. (Or if you live in the desert) =)

Im sorry but you have to get your school money back then.

The pasta is used to level the cpu and heatsink so for even contact over the entire surface , cause then the heatsink works optimal in leading the heat away from the cpu, if you put too much paste on it will have the reversed function, and will prevent the heat from leaving the cpu. You can read that in any manual, and you dont need a doctor degree for that ;)
