Tell Me The Best Way To Use Depth Charges

Ok Enigma players... what are your tricks re depth charges? I heard that the voice commands. Per "Altreer"...

"I found a loop hole that allows me to get a pretty good estimate, when you know that a sub is below you and you are a little a head or on top of it, if you are able to use microphone commands, say engage target, this will show the distance you are from the sub, but if you are on top of it it will show you the depth of the submarine! Then you say set depth charges nnn and then say roll charges. Then you got them."

What other things have you discovered that work? Any advice? Sub missions are fun but I want to try surface missions. I have not been able to sink a sub yet.

i dont wait until im on top of hte sub, i start issueing "engage target" as im closing in from 500 meters. i keep a calculator in hand. i get as best estimate "surface" distance from the BTAC, and use the distance reading from the reply from the officer. the square root of (distance reading)squared - (surface distance)squared is your depth.

set charges, and keep on steaming. i re-calculate every 30 seconds or so.

For a good example, let's say I'm approaching a sub that shows up at 200m on the closest zoom. At the same time, I give the "engage target" command. The response comes back as "Engaging target bearing 250 range 280." Then you'd put into your calculator √(280^2-200^2), which gives you a depth of ~196m. Repeat again at the 100m recticle to establish rate of dive/surfacing. Usually on the first or second time the Sub goes angel2:

Here's My Favorite Strategem for killing those pesky subs. It's a little risky when there are multiple subs around, but quite effective.

Notice that once a sub fires torpedoes at you and dives it usually proceeds to over 100m depth. Steam past the sub's location then use the pivot turn and run up right behind the sub. Drop charges at 150m when the sub's icon is behind your stern within the first ring of the tactical display, up to that line.

Works for me; no sub manages to survive my tactic.

Good Luck.

The response comes back as "Engaging target bearing 250 range 280."
Great advice, thanks! My microphone works and I can issue voice commands and get a response, but the response is in text. How can I get the crewmen to speak? I read that there was a separate download or something? I enabled the voice response and have the volume all the way up on that.

Thanks for any help!
