Faction count is hardcoded in the game. If you want to make the aircraft take longer to arrive, position them relative to the taskforce you want them supporting. Distances are based on the full speed of the first ship in the taskforce (designed to work this way anyhow).

East, thanks very much for clearing up those mysteries! You definitely saved me a lot of time on that faction question. What I want to do is add some third party, 'neutral' merchant ships, say, in one mission, from Sweden. No probs- all I will do is exchange a Swedish flag for one of the faction flags and then script some merchants from that faction to arrive.
I will take this opportunity to say that you and your team created a superb game, one which I know will give me many, many hours of great fun, interspersed with moments of (virtual) terror. The extent of your active and generous participation in this forum is unheard of in my experience and is truly appreciated by this new fan of your game.
As somebody who lives and sails on the Great Lakes, I am particularly looking forward to "Thunder Bay". BTW, if you have any little authenticity questions regarding the Lakes (e.g., how much do they freeze in winter, how stormy do they get [think 30 ft waves], I would be delighted to answer 'em- shoot me an email.
Here's to the future- it should be a lot of fun!
