Hey Apocal, I was a Fire Controlman onboard the...you guessed it...the USS Monterey(CG-61). CT Division...Tomahawk and Harpoon.

Well I am just about to change my Job I am leaving the Museum to become a Records Manager for a strategic Services Department for a Council. Well the money is a damn sight better before you ask:)

I started out as a cabinetmaker and ended up as a CAD (computer Aided Drawing) technician you goto know how to build em before you can design em!.

Along the way I got into amatuer radio in the late 60's and when computer aided electronics hit the scene that took off and so did I, out of the hands on trade and into the new wave. Gotta know how it works! my family eventually forgave me for all the sentimental treasures and things I pulled apart as a kid to find out how they worked. putting them back together was not a problem but they never worked again.

I'm on the USS Enterprise (CVN-65), a part of what used to be called CF (Combat Fire Control) but now is CS-7. SeaSparrow, CIWS, RAM, 48E, and TAS. Good times.

Gotta say I prefer the flattop Navy though. When it comes time to get underway and do some landscaping and population control, quantity has a a quality all it's own .

Hi Apocal, when I was a signalman in the Australian Army we were on an exercise called Kangaroo 2 (1976 I think) and we choppered onto the U.S.S Enterprise just off the Queensland coast near Shoalwater Bay. That is a big mother of a ship! Even got to see the radio room.

I'm a college student from Chicago going to Cornell, completing school and training to become a Marine officer. . .

Monterey; did they really take Monterey out of commission? I thought the Ticos were only 15 or so years old. . .

Wow, everyone has an interesting job!

Spent 30 years with a major automotive manufactuer, prior to retiring in 99' was on the road doing Quality Control and Customer Satisfaction work. Smoothing out problems and trouble shooting.

Spent 15 years as an Aux. Police Officer until the purchase of my home which was outside the city which had a "residency clause" so I had to resign.

From there I went to the U.S. Coast Guard Aux. Have roughly 15 years with them now. My speciality would be online conferencing on a National level. I also am a Instructor, Vessel Examiner and worked at the Marine Saftey Office, I have done (SAR's) Search and Rescue along with regular Harbor Patrols.

I would like to add where the Station is located Cleveland, Ohio. Within a stones throw distance is the WWII Submarine U.S.S. Cod. I extremely enjoied the experience of boarding her as a guest of one of the curators, everything is in mint condition and original as can be right down to stocking of the galley and the ice cream maker also her engines were made right here in the Cleveland area.

No, the Monterey hasn't been decommissioned. She is still very much active. Homeport is Norfolk, Va.

Apparently, the Ticonderoga has been or is going to be decommed soon.

Having just bought this game a couple of days ago it is proving intresting. I still have Ace's of the Deep, Great Naval Battle (39-42), SH 2 (Looking at getting SH 3 but don't like the idea of upgrading to XP) and I think I have Fighting Steel around here somewhere

But as for my occupation(s), I'm am a retired member of the Canadian Armed Forces where I was a Mobile Support Equipment Operator (Long winded army term for Truck Driver ).

Now, I just work in Public Transit.
