MP questions answered in special edition post at Subsim.com's forums.

Maybe should be posted so it's easier to find?

You are a bit wrong.. no not a bit but a lot.

MP (LAN) was never promised to be free. it wasnt even meant to be made.

Yet TAG decided to make it a part of Chapter 2 of the SP Edition

A Chapter that has been promised just as much as the MMOG

The MMOG client will be a free download, once they are done with it.

You wont need any of the SP Chapters in order to play MMOG

Stop whinning about it, look forward to it instead and go play SH3 while you wait.

So far TAG hasnt run from a single promise they made

OK Jesper you must not have read my post. There is no "whining" I just stated why I both my friend and I have become disillusioned with what Enigma was supposed to be and has YET to become.

I never complained about free MMOG. I was talking any form of MP. That's why I posted.

I was ready to pony up money for MMOG.

I have paid to play Air Warrior (1996!), WW2 Online (2001), and now Aces High (2001 to present) and I expected to pay to play Enigma.

Enigma was supposed to have MP capability quite a long time ago and no one should tell a Tesseraction customer not to be upset about what was to be included with the game.

Reminder: Action Vault interview with a Tesseraction employee.

and again: Press Release

Then I added to my post that maybe East or Tesseraction should post in a more conspicuous way how and when Enigma will be upgraded. Maybe an email could be sent to all of us who registered to play multiplayer and picked a name and faction, to tell us what is going on.

Last but not least, Enigma should be upgraded first in defference to those that did really purchase the game for the MP- be it LAN or MMOG, way back when it all started.

Jeff Hunt

That statement is just nonsense. ERT was originaly concieved and marketed as MMOG ONLY. The single player version was an afterthought that was to be used to raise capital for the MMOG and I have the GIGEX version that came in a plastic case to prove it.
Stop whinning about it, look forward to it instead and go play SH3 while you wait.
Whining about? If voicing my displeasure about the apparent lack of progress for the MMOG game is whining to you then I can take my commentary and future gaming money elseware.

Gentlemen, you are welcome to voice your displeasure as you like, I completely understand what you are saying and, if I was in your position I would likely feel exactly the same way. If we could do anything differently, we would. We are trying to respond to our customer wishes as best we can. If you have a Gigex version, then you received a free version of the retail release as I promised.

The MMOG is a massive undertaking and if you care to do a little digging I'm confident you can pull together the things that are largely responsible for the delay. It's tricky keeping a company together under those circumstances. We were supposed to release a chapter every 6 to 9 months. Working only on the MMOG version is why we haven't. The next installment is overdue, that's why we are releasing it; it does take capital to operate.

You are both making assumptions about having to pay for it to get the MMOG or any multiplayer. I will say, the more complaints we get about people not getting "free" stuff, the less motivated we are to offer that free stuff. Ubisoft, EA, Midway...none of them offer it.

You want guarantees on things, by all means you shouldn't support indie game companies, we have to fight to survive, we have to be flexible and fast in our strategies when necessary. That means that sometimes, the best laid plans....

When I bought enigma multiplayer wasn't on my mind. I wanted to drive some surface combat ships and shoot the guns at WWII ranges at interesting targets. Now that I've played the game multiplayer still isn't on my mind.

At this point the thing I WANT is an admiral's control of groups of ships in scenarios that can be easily dragged and dropped into custom missions.

The thing I DON"T WANT is the Starforce protection system. I wish there was an online server where I could boot the game with a user name and password so it is possible to play without the disk and it's 3 minute delay. An online logon alternative to Starforce would cost a pittance to provide and would give the developers some feedback on how much people are playing the game.

I can list a hundred things I'd love to see in the game but it was worth what I paid for it as is.

East,

So you are telling us multiplayer was NEVER to be part of Enigma? That's not what all of the links I provided said, nor my Enigma box.

Don't think I have a problem paying for the multiplayer, just do the right thing and release the multiplayer for Enigma at the same time as Sink The Hood.

I have only made three or four posts in the last three years regarding this mess so don't think I am a freeloader or a whiner.

My friend and I regularly purchase indie games & support indie sights.

Everyone can now berate me for raising a valid point. Just remember if I don't purchase another Tesseraction game it is only because of how you and Jesper treated me here when I presented a valid complaint.

Jeff Hunt

We are trying to tell you that LAN was originally never meant to be available for Enigma, not for Chapter 1 not 2 or 3, the only MP that should have been available was MMOG.

Now TAG has decided to do a LAN model upon requests from several members here, and they have decided to include it in Chapter 2. (a sequel to chapter 1) (a standalone addon) (that was never meant to be free).

Yes ERT, was supposed to be MMOG only, but ever since the release of Chapter 1, it has been planned to release several sequels along the way, as East said it once or twice a year.

Cant blame you for that.

East,

No matter what, you have my support as i have stated before there is no other game quite like ERT, ok since the delays there have been improvements in technology and other titles maybe have surpassed ERT slightly in GFx but the gameplay is still unique. So hang on in there.

Thank you for the civil reply.

When I have played Enigma I found it incredible. Most important was the voice commands and balance between ship technology which seem to be pretty accurate and playability.

I know of all of the problems Tesseracton has had to deal with and I certainly sympathize. If I would have received an email asking for financial support, possibly with some sort of future online game credit (or not), I would have contributed.

I will stay tuned.
