Nuclear depth charges.
Those would be sweet if the game had them, but alas nuclear bombs weren't created until '44/45 :(

I remember seeing a program about the Falklands war and it turned out that the Royal Navy had a few ships that had nuclear depth charges on board.

How on earth would they work? A surface nuke can do miles of damage, submarines can't go down that far so if they were ever used, wouldn't both the sub and the ship get destroyed by the shockwave? notify:

I guess it would depend on the weapons grade/quality of uranium/plutonium and the size of nuclear device used. It would seem that if one were used, that it would contaminate the ship that dropped it plus the ppl aboard it since the Gamma, X, and Beta Rays would go through everything in an omni-directional manner at the speed of light. I remember the US Defense Dept saying something about developing small nuclear munitions to be used for killing underground bunker installations about a year ago. The point of using them would be for acquiring a larger explosion/damage ratio and the radiation would certainly contaminate and kill those exposed to it.

Interesting point though...I've never heard of nuclear depth charges before.
