Fuzzy Math?

I guess I have a hard time believing that I only inflicted 34% of the damage to the 2 LFN BB's (27758 (my awarded tonnage) / 82000 (the approximate tonnage of the 2 BB's). I was in a protracted engagement and my ship was nearly expired at the end. My DD's assisted a little with the first BB until they all got sunk. The second BB was all mine, with the exception of a couple of planes that got shot down rather quickly. Do the bombs do that much damage relative to a 15" shell? Of course I can't confirm that my planes even actually hit the LFN BB's. Enemy planes try to bomb me too, but they rarely succeed.

I'll examine the system to make sure there isn't some type of bug in it.
