Gentlemen.....

As of early this morning, Friday 5 Dec 08 at approximately 0100 HRS locat time, I was able to conduct an armed recon sortie over Ie Shima airfield flying a TBM-3 with ordinance. The AAA threat on the island is approximately 99% destroyed with perhaps one large caliber flak gun still in operation. All other surrounding flak gun positions, enemy ships nearby have been sunk or disabled from a previous mass ground attack sortie flown by friendly forces in sector.

The main Japanese Command Post on the Hill has been destroyed as well by rocket fire by the recon plane. The airfields siren is still active and has been pinpointed for destruction in a follow on sortie in the next several hours.

There are a few static Japanese aircraft still sitting on the airfield spread out but with little to no air defense capability to protect them or any enemy aircraft that may want to spawn into that airfield complex.

The condition of Is Shima airfield is such that if the server isn't reset to allow any ground targets that are destroyed to be brought back to life, then landing at this airfield could happen any time we wish with the proper CAP over head.

Landing a lone aircraft at this airfield and moving to a hidden location to report on any enemy spawn in activity may be of benefit to friendly forces if the server does't report us as killed or captured in the process.

The island North of RP Uncle on the North Easterly side of that strip of land near the Northern tip is an enemy sea plane base. Exact composition of this base is unknown. This location may have similar AAA capability as at other similar locations we have ID'd so far to date.

The update from the post flight area recon has found that the enemy sea plane base North of RP Uncle has several aircraft on the beach with another flights worth of aircraft just to the "West" of the beach. No sign of any active AAA guns at this location.

The sea plane base on the south side of RP Uncle shows one recon plane still alive, the rest surrounding it are destroyed. No active AAA seen in vicinity of this location.

No further intell on the small base at vicinity of grid "Q-10" on the Northern tip of the island.

The Southern sea plane base in vicinity of the island cluster is pretty much destroyed. No visible sign of any AAA at this location either.

The Southern Jap airbase at Naha as well as the Middle airbase are still active. Size of active AAA as well as other objects at these two locations are unknown.

As of Monday 12-15-08, both carriers now have large black holes on each flight deck thus rendering both carriers practically impossible to launch from with ordinance and fuel with any degree of success. That now just leaves the allied island base to use with its current set of USAAF aircraft unless the server is reset OR.....Sakagawa adds in an additional allied fleet to allow us to spawn in from to extend the current in game Naval capability for our Group. The current state of affairs with the two surviving carriers are now pretty much jacked up unless something is done to improve what has taken place to date.

VBF-12 has had some degree of success dealing with this problems as of todays date on the server but its a little over the top in my view.

As a result of what I saw tonight, please see my new thread that talks about a dedicated server.

Considering the pasting that ie Shima has been getting, I am not surprized. I take it VBF-12 have been launching with lower fuel. Sounds like we need to do the same.

If one carrier is sunk the the aircraft will air spawn.

Either way the game should still be playable and as much fun - So I see little problem.

Flew 2 sorties, One in B-24H with shotgun mount, and 6X500 pounders. and p-38L with 2x 1000 pounders and and 10 Rockets... Destroyed two Small caliber triple A sites near RP OBOE in city, during my first sortie in B-24H, IE shima is Almost compleatly destroyed except for hidden large caliber AAA. During 2nd sortie Took P-38 Flew to harball central airfield, Saw no tgts worthy. Almost completely destroyed.went to ground targets in Lima 6 keypad 5. 2 large tank parks.. KIAED a sizable portion of tanks near city, in triangualar tank park with 2X 100 pounders. HUGE white plume of smoke near tgts. a few tanks remain in 2nd tank park and will throw up some AAA. 2nd tank park is in a line across road from destroyed triangular tank park. LESSON LEARNED: b-24s make lousy HUNTER/KILLER birds LOL... BE ADVISED OPFOR has positioned AA of all sizes in almost Sniper role In hills and jungles near targets VERY hard to spot and VERY accurate gunners. both of My sorties were KIAS due to these gunsites

Jerry, when was the last time you flew a sortie in this server under these conditions ? I tried yesterday in a Corsair following 25% fuel and default weapons load out. I taxi'd around the holes and tried to launch. I couldn't get enough air flow over the wings to stay aloft. Using 25% fuel isn't enough to do much Offensive flying, just staying in vicinity of Both carriers and then RTB'ing.

Having these black holes on the deck that I've never seen before in a DF server has made me become very skeptical. Is this some sort of new Mod that disables carrier decks with multiple Torp Hits or am I just being paranoid here ?

These 47th guys just Torp the carriers and fleet ships when no one is in the server then are now talking thrash openly in the 200th Sentai's forums about us not being able to launch from the fleet. Yet when we engage them in open combat, we bag them each and every time. If these guys want to play dirty, we can always use other tactics and make sure they never even get off the ground.

The really odd thing I've now noticed is that I don't see the 3rd Bomb Group in this server (DC's Unit) anymore and all of a sudden out of no where, this 47th Sentai appears and they turn to Torpedo bombing tactics. This is just a coincidence in my view but I now get the sneaking suspicion that someone is trying to use smoke and mirrors against us. Thats just a hunch on my part but I'm trying to learn more about this "Flight" of pilots. If it were DC flying in disguise, I wouldn't be surprised either.
